I tried the nystatin, but it didn't work. It seems to

be some kid of heat. I am using Bactroban to get rid

of the redness and powder to help dry it up. Don't

know if it is going to work or not, but we are giving

it a try. Right now it is getting better, but like I

said it did get better before and came right back.

Thanks for replying.

Yep! has just qualified for a 4th season of the Synergis vaccine

which protects against RSV. It is given every 28 days from Oct through May.

caught RSV right before his first b-day, and spent 3.5 weeks on a

vent, 4.5 weeks in the PICU, and 5.5 weeks total in the hospital. It caused

severe scarring of his lungs, asthma, and RAD (reactive airway disease).

is currently on a Flovent inhaler twice daily, and does nebs of

Xopenex and Albuterol as needed.

He also gets the flu vaccine every year.

Hope this helps!

I did not know that they could get the Synergis past

the first two seasons. Hailey was on the Synergis

after she was released from the hospital. Do you think

that is what she is getting that is causing all of

this or is there a way to tell what causes pnuemonia?

She has had it twice October 2002 and May 2005. It

always starts out with weezing and a runny nose.

Hailey is on Xopenex and Albuterol along with

Pulmicort, Sudal, Zantac, Singulair, and takes

Steriods like Orapred and Prednasolone (sp) when she

gets this way. Most of the time it is enough to pull

her through, but not always.

Thanks so much,

Jodie,

I am not really sure what triggers all of this. She

went to an allergist and he said that she would

benefit from allergy shots, but he has never given a

child as small as her the shots. He wanted to wait

until after we went to Chicago, seen the gen. and now

I am waiting on the endo again. I may end up going

back to him before I see the endo again because I do

not know when the appointment for that one is yet. The

allergist also did limited testing on her because of

her size. She is allergic to oak and elm trees and

pigweed, but do not know what else needs to be tested

to see if she has something else also. I have been

giving her Orapred to try to keep her from going back

in the hospital. She is not getting any worse right

now, but she is not getting any better. I will keep

you all posted on how she is doing.
