My son is 6.5 months and got his helmet on Monday. He has done GREAT! Today is the first day we're having him sleep in it and he doesn't seem bothered at all. He's taking his 2nd nap right now and all is well. I'm sure it helps that he's a very laid-back baby, too. Our orthotist obviously did a good job getting a good fit, though. He hasn't had any bad red spots or anything.I just thought I'd share our story. On here, it seems you hear about a lot of bad stories because those are the ones people need help with. But sometimes it goes very smoothly. We're doing just fine!mom to , 6.5 months with tort & plagioFrom: vcintron22 <veronica.carrasquillo@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Thu, March 4, 2010 11:50:40 AMSubject: My son is starting treatment with the helmet tomorrow

My son is 7months old and is starting treatment tomorrow. Im so nervous, I don't know what to expect, is going to be ok with it? will he be able to sleep at night with it?

I know I haven't been able to sleep just thinking about the next few months with him wearing the helmet.

Thanks so much for your stories. Im so glad I joined this group I feel a lot

better knowing that Im not the only mom going through this. Another issue that I

have is the insurance, I was told today that we were denied, but Im going to

start the appeal process, we'll see how that goes...

Congratulations! Not to be a party pooper, but you *know* as soon as

you write something like that, heat rash is going to be freaking you

out this weekend. Day 4 would be a good time to taking the helmet

off every couple hours and wiping the sweat out, as a preventative

measure until, say, Monday.

My 7 and a half month old daughter has had her DOC band for about 2 and a half weeks she is doing great with it!! I was so worried nervous also so I know exactly how you feel. I was sick to my stomach about it. She doesn't seem to mind it one bit. I think she even thinks its cool - she smiled at herself in the mirror when she first saw it! I know someone else wrote that and I experienced the same. Honestly, after such a short time, I am so used to it now that I forget she has it on. Strangers are nice smile at her some who feel comfortable ask about it. I try to be very approachable pleasant they know its ok to ask. Today was our third appointment (second regular bc she had a little rash after her adjustment last week so had to go back in) we can already see a remarkable change improvement. It is so worth it! I'm so happy that we decided to do it because we agonized over it. Everyone (friends/family) has a judgement - before when we were deciding what to do and now that she has it. I don't care what they think, we made the right choice for our sweet baby.
