Guest guest
, Heel blisters are the most common. My son, Tenny, had toe blisters on his non cf foot. That was when we started with the Markells about a 18 months ago. Blisters are caused by friction. Something is rubbing on her toes to cause the blister. We found that the tongue on the Markells was causing Tenny's blisters. His blisters formed on top of his feet just below his toes on his non cf. The tongue on the Markells hit his toe in that spot. What worked for Tenny was this. Our orthotist gave me the largest size tongues he could find. They completely covered Tenny's toes. That combined with lacing the toe are a bit tighter ended the friction for us. On the blisters we put Lanisoh lanolin cream and a slick bandaid (I cut a small hole out of the pad part and placed the hole over the blister. gave the blister some padding without extra pressure). If the blisters don't pop (and get infected like your daughters) the Lanisoh melts them away beautifully. Tenny's blisters actually healed well under the super large tongues. When we got a new pair of shoes, I was worried about repeating the toe blisters; it didn't happen for us. I did replace the felt padding with moleskin again (but the tongues no longer cover Tenny's toes). I am also very conscious to get the tongue centered evenly and the laces tight. Tenny still uses the Markells. We haven't had any problems since the initial ones. Our problems ended once I modified the tongues and figured how to get Tenny's feet seated correctly. The s, I am told, are must softer and easier on the feet. They should be better for you. My problems may not be exactly the same as your problems, but there is someone else in this wide world whose child had toe blisters and not heel blisters. Your daughter is out of her shoes.. Is she in casts to prevent lost correction? Blisters and such do heal better out of the shoes, but correction can be lost rapidly. Good luck with the s, everyone really likes them. I hope the infection heals rapidly. Infections are not fun and can be touchy things. Anyway, that is my little bit about nothing. Mom to Tenny rt. cf. FAB 14/7 Blisters on toes Hi, My name's and my daughter was born with bilateral clubfeet. She went into the DBB's and developed the worst blister on her big toe. It ended up getting infected so now we're out of the boots for a couple of weeks. We just ordered the s, so I'm hoping that they're better blister wise. Just wondering whether anyone elses child has had blisters on their toes? I'm from Australia, and it seems that everyone gets blisters on their heels....I'm just after some advice from someone that has had the same problem with the toes... Thanks,

Guest guest
, So her toe was rubbing on the sole of the shoe as well as the outside leather. Could be that the lacing was a bit loose. Also could be that she is pressing her foot down, unconsciously trying to return her foot to a neutral position rather than a dorsiflexed one. It is amazing how quickly some feet form blisters; and how little friction it takes sometimes. Some parents like to reverse lace the shoes. This helps keep the heel seated more firmly, but it would also help tighten up the toe box of the shoe. Of course, it could be something else. Out resident expert on the brace, Frogabog, will probably have all the answers. I am sorry her toe became infected. That makes a bit ouch for your sweet girl. You have had a rough start with the brace. It does get better. Trust me when I say, some day you will wake up and realize that the brace just is. It is not hard work, it is not as frustrating. It is just a part of life. The miracle of pretty little straight feet is worth it. All the walking and running and rain dances on furniture is made possible because you are willing to be diligent with the brace. Keep a smile on your face. Here is hoping the s are the way to go for your daughter. I have multiple children crying. I had better go pretend I am the responsible parent at this house. Good luck healing those blisters. Guest guest
, Our daughter Lily developed nasty red spots on her toes when she first went into the Markells. We (the orthotist, doc, etc) tried to figure out the source of the friction (shoes, rubber treads on socks, seams on socks, etc), to no avail. We went into the s & the marks (which never quite developed into blisters) went away. Kim amandadaze wrote: > > Hi, Her blister was actually underneath her big toe. Guest guest
oh good, yes. That's good. She should be fine in the PM's then. You are right, if the shoe isn't tight enough it will almost certainly cause sores. Hers is the first I've heard of under the toe though but it makes sense that this could happen instead of the heel sores. Same problem, just a different outcome. Thank you for clarifying! Guest guest
You know, now that you mention it, Sammy has never gotten blisters on the bottom of his toes from his Markells, but he got them on 2-3 toes on both feet when he first got his most recent pair of tennis shoes. They formed very quickly and never got really sore, he never complained about them. I did assume it was because the new shoes were a little loose but I used thicker socks for a while and his feet grew a bit so now they don't cause any problem. So, it would bear to reason that this would happen the same with Markells if a little loose in the toe area. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >Hi, > > > >Her blister was actually underneath her big toe.
