Guest guest
Hi - The worldwide studies were much better for the AGB than were the FDA trials here. I don't remember the figures any more, but, I researched the AGB prior to it's approval in the USA. At that time, it could be done in Mexico at some fairly credible hospitals and by equally credible surgeons at a rather reasonable cost. The stats were NOT up to either the RNY or the DS, though. At best, the AGB offers usually safe alternative to people with lower BMI's. It can have some rather nasty problems, though. When the figures came out from FDA, the stats were significantly worse. As I recall, the conjecture was that our surgeons did not have the followup experience and were not as adept at adjusting the devices at subsequent refill times. Anyway, suffice it to say that I decided upon other options, especially when I read about band slippage and band erosion. Sometimes the AGB can be downright unfriendly.
