The next question is: How hectic is your personal life? Will you be able to

rest when you get home from work? Or will you have to run kids places, do

homework, take care of a vast variety of pets, care for elderly parents,

having prior volunteer commitments that can't be cancelled. In other word,

if your personal life can be pretty low key, I would say about 6 weeks. If

your personal life has to remain hectic probably 8 weeks.

- if it helps any, I had a hysterectomy and gallbladder removal

(two separate times) open. I was back to work in four weeks. I'm

planning on 4 wks. this time too.

I went back to my desk job at 4 weeks. First day was rough and each day got

better! It's not so much that you're sore, but for the first 4 weeks or so your

body is expending almost all of it's energy healing itself, so you're just

exhausted! To give you a brief example, I almost felt like I had to rest/take a

nap *during* my shower when I got home, let alone afterwards!

I had my surgery open and I took 6 weeks off work. If I didn't get

paid time off, I probably could have survived at 4 weeks, but even 6

weeks was hard. I know a lot of people in my local group take 8

weeks if they had any complications.

E,

I had open surgery back in June, I was out of work for 5 weeks I could have gone

back after 4 weeks but thought what the hey I can use another week. I originally

asked for 6 weeks and only used 5....My nickname at home is Bionic Woman now

thanks to that....I will admit that the first 2 weeks I did absolutely nothing I

pretty much laid in bed and the only walking I did was to the bathroom and to

the kitchen. After the second week I started to venture outside....I think it

really is an individual thing...

Anyone out there with some idea of when I'll be feeling up to

returning to work? I have a desk job, so it's not too physical.

I would say 6 weeks, whatever! I was " OK " after 4 weeks (lap

surgery, BTW), but with no reserve strength. After 6 weeks, I felt

" human " again. There is something magical about that 6-week mark.

YMMV.

I went back part time at the end of 2 weeks and then full time the next week.

I am an accountant so I sit most of the day. It wasnt bad...I was very tired

at night..but I think whatever you decide you'll do fine. Its a head

thing...I knew I had to return cause I had no vacation or sick left.

Hi Chris:

I'm six weeks out and will be returning to work on Wednesday. I feel

pretty good, and think I'll be up for the full day!

Hope that helps.
