Guest guest
* If you keep giving into her you will not get to be 100% gfcf and this diet will only work once you totally eliminate ALL the g & c. Even a little is no good at all. Try and eliminate ALL the casein from her meals first and once you have that mastered go onto the gluten. Get yourself a Miss Robens catalog 1- or www.missroben.com and start with pastas and snacks from there. Meals you can keep simple with just meats and veggies till you get this all figured out. They have GFCF cereals, waffles and eggs for breakfast. You can make homemade chicken nuggets with GFCF bread, you can even make your own pizza. Meat and rice, etc. My son id GFCF for 19 months now and doing great - the diet is a breeze for me now, was hard at first yes, but now I even make creative pretty looking meals. Ask us for recipes for things you may need. I am leaving list Monday night for a couple weeks or so, but there are so many on here to help you. I bring all of LJs food with me when I go out to avoid any eating out disasters. in New York (LJs mom) * On Sun, 18 Nov 2001 16:20:19 -0000 kathbuet1@... writes: > My biggest challenge with my daughter and the GFCF diet is dining > out. Guest guest
what else does she like that you could get at a restaurant? Will she eat a hamburger or a peice of grilled chicken, baked potato? You can always bring your own bun for the burger. Its hard at first so dont feel bad. And dont stop going to restaurants or you will get depressed. We bring chips and cookies for dessert and order the burger or chicken. enzymes help too in case something ends up not being gfcf. keep up the good work. it gets easier. Guest guest
I agree, . I bring Ross's food w/us. I don't ask, I just heat it up and put it in an indulated cooler. I brought hot dogs, crackers, cookies, carrots, etc. We go for pizza and we bring his favorite pizza. We did this before GFCF, because he wouldn't eat the restaurant foods. It is 2nd nature to us. It is hard, but this is going to be your way of life, now. Your childs health is important, but so is your every day way of life. You have to make adaptations to your new way of eating. This is not a temporary thing, it is for real and forever. If you keep giving in, it will never be easy for you. If she makes a scene, just explain. Believe me, we have caused quite a scene and when Ross acts up, so do the rest of my boys. One lady on Mother's Day told me, " boy do you have your hands full " . I just smiled and kept on doing what we were doing. Guest guest
Every child is different so you would need to decide what would work best for your daughter. My son is pretty good about eating out and has only been on the diet for 2 months. Sometimes he looks at our food and obviously wants some but as long as I get him at least one item there he doesn't mind food brought from home. If we do the fast food route, I usually take GFCF nuggets with me and get fries from McD's or In and Out. If we go to a restaurant, I take something in a thermos similar to what they serve where we are going (eggs if it is breakfast, stew or some sort of casserole if coffee shop, spaghetti if Italian restaurant etc). Most places will serve applesauce or fresh fruit so he gets something served to him. Another idea I had but I haven't done yet is to order a plain potato and to bring with me a topping in a thermos (chili, veggies etc.). There are some foods that I keep in his bag that I only give to him when we eat out. If where you go is a chain, you might send them an e-mail asking about what is safe. I sent a number of them out - some have responded and some have not. Of the ones that responded, some sent us gift certificates for free meals. Let me know if there are any favorite places. Maybe I have already gotten a response. > My biggest challenge with my daughter and the GFCF diet is dining > out. We do pretty ok when at home.
