Guest guest
I don't have any other co-morbidities except the HC, but I do have an older sister (10 years older), who is/was morbidly obese. She had her gall bladder removed, a weight-related hysterectomy and adult diabetes, all because of her weight. She also needs knee replacements for both knees. She had the RNY (I believe, I never asked her the type) at Stanford in February 1999. She was 59 at the time of surgery and weighed @400. She's around 250-260 now (5'3 " just like me). She lost it fast and then stopped losing. She's had problems, including surgery once for a blockage. She also needs hernia surgery but they wont do it until she loses more weight. Her medical history is part of what motiviates me. Also the reason I will not have an RNY. So while I'm healthy now, I want the surgery to avoid what might happen in the future. What's nice is that my pcp is totally behind me for this and does anything I ask to help get the surgery for me.
