Guest guest
Hi Everyone. I'm new here but I need some MAJOR help. My daughter has 1 clubbed foot. Her left one. She went through the casting and is now in the shoes with the bar in the middle. holding the shoes together. Anyway my daughter HATES these shoes and cries all the time. I can't standi t. I take them off. I know its for her own good to keep them on but I'm not a strong enough person to listen to her cry all day. Anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this? Maybe something to comfort her? i've tried tylenol, walks, distracting her andn othing helps. PLEASE help me!!! Please email me at the email above....i don't get to the computer too much to find the web site again! Thank you all in advance! Guest guest
Hi Rita, welcome to the group. I'm sorry you're having shoe problems but I hope we can help you with them. The main reason kids seem to have the crying is the bar being too short for her. Have you checked that her heels are still shoulder width apart? Otherwise, it could be any number of things together or single making her so unhappy. Tell us, has it always been this way or did it just start recently? If recent I'd strongly suspect the bar. If always, I would strongly suspect her feet were not corrected completely prior to bracing. How long has she been in the shoes (how long ago did she begin bracing)? Are her toes pointed out to 70 degrees on the clubfoot? Would you mind telling us who your doctor is and was he/she using the Ponseti Method? (or a modified ponseti, or totally non ponseti) With a little more information we can help you sort all this out. Hang in there honey, we'll get you fixed up. You are right, she does need the brace on! But you're also right, she shouldn't be crying in agony while she wears it. Also there is a list of " Kori's tips " on the group web site that can help you sort out problems too - reading it might help you zero in on the issue. By the way, if you wanted you could switch your group email to arrive at your regular email address instead of reading from the web to make things easier here. ee Mother of 3 Clubfooted Sons: - Bilateral Club Feet April 1998 Everett - Bilateral Club Feet September 2003 Garrison - Bilateral Club Feet March 2006 Visit us on the Web! www.WildlifeRevivalTaxidermy.com New mom with question about Braces Hi Everyone.
