From being obese and having a large stomach, it would pull my uterus and bladder out of place. When this would happen I would have extreme back pain. My chiropracter is the one who discovered this, through process of elimination. He told me that they were attached to the back area inside the body. He would have me lay on my back, with my knees up and he would work on the lower stomach and push things up. Me typing this does not actually describe what all he did, but boy did it help with the back pain. He was able to muscle test me before doing this also. Whenever I had pain in my lower back, I would go and have him work on me. I anticipate having to have this done as I lose weight also. Over the years I have found that as my weight went up or down, I needed to go for adjustments. Like I said, this may only work for me....but it really did help me. Guest guest
I'm so sorry about your female problems! I don't know any of the answers but I was wondering if you could have an ablasion (sp?) down there. A good friend from Canada had one a few years ago and loves it. All of her innards are still there but she doesn't have a period any longer. She used to have serious cramping and bleeding too but no longer. And since she still has her innards, she's not on medication. Good luck, dee --- t6322kh wrote: > WARNING - THIS CONTAINS PERSONAL INFO. Why would it be worse since I lost so much weight? > Kathy M: I'm so sorry to hear zbout your pain --- has the doctor tried a new treatment where they inflate a balloon filled with warm water into the uterus? I've heard this technique can help swelling and pain. I totally understand if a hysterectomy is the last resort, but be sure to try any and all other methods before this -- I mean, also research what kind of side effects could be present, etc. if you do get your uterus removed. Will he also remove the tubes/ovaries? That is the really important question because one's hormonal system can get really disrupted if the tubes and ovaries come out.... They CAN BE LEFT IN and only the uterus removed, from what I've read. This may make the transition easier.... Be sure to discuss this with your OB/GYN because many women don't realize this. Perhaps do a search online for hysterectomy and the condition you mentioned -- perhaps there will be new research or new techniques on how to deal with this! See if the procedure is available lap, too --- I think it might be. Also, try to speak with post-op hysterecomy patients -- I'm sure there's some kind of group here on yahoo... This way, you can see what others have experienced, see what their input is and also, if you do decide to take this option, you'd have a support group to help you through as well! As far as the DS goes, I really don't know if a hysterectomy would have any bearing on it, except if there are adhesions/scars in that area (I've heard that some people experience them around the colon/lower abdomen). I'd contact my surgeon just to make sure, though and see what he/she has to say about having this surgery so close to your DS.... I hope everything turns out wonderfully for you and hate to hear about you in pain. all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. Gagner/Mt. Guest guest
Hi Kathy- I know exactly what you are going through girl... I did what you are doing for the last 2 years. I several biopsies and the straw thing biopsy twice- oowwee! I also had the oblation and the d & c and none of that would stop my bleeding. Then when I was finally anemic (the dr said that it was a good thing that I was so large and healthy, it took longer for me to become anemic!) I had my hysterectomy last July 2001 and am having the DS on the day after tomorrow. Dr K said all will be well.... I also had the hysterectomy vaginal (and they said it couldnt be done because of my weight), and all was well. And I feel great and will only get better because of the DS. I know the D & C works for some, I know the oblation works for some, but it did not work for me. The lining of my uterus was growing into the uterine muscle and thats what was causing my pain. Then between the d & c and the hysterectomy I grew a tumor in there too, so for me the hysterectomy was the way to go. I kept my ovaries (thank you very much) and know that they help hormonally. I would definately talk to your gyno and ask about having it done vaginally. that would not disturb your incision. Just a thought... and my 2 cents worth. I will keep you in my prayers, Sharon in Onyx -- In duodenalswitch@y..., Dee <donna_lee777@y...> wrote: > I'm so sorry about your female problems! > > I don't know any of the answers but I was wondering if > you could have an ablasion (sp?) down there. Guest guest
, what is the purpose of the balloon and warm water in the uterus? It doesn't sound painful at all! dee --- ma2two wrote: > > > > > I have an appointment to see my OB/GYN next > > week and I want to be prepared when I go. Guest guest
Kathy - As far as another surgery goes I had my hernia repair/small bowel obstruction repair just after my 4th month post-op. I've healed very well, without any complications. Good luck, P > WARNING - THIS CONTAINS PERSONAL INFO. IF YOU OFFEND EASY, DON'T READ > > > > I am now 5 months post-op and will be 33 next month. Guest guest
Is this something that just started after your WLS or did you do this before? My husband and I have a very active sex life now and I sure don't want problems after surgery when I'll be smaller and can be even more active!
