We just found out that our baby is diagnosed with bilateral club

foot. He is due in October and I am trying to find as much

information/support as possible. I have a consultation with a

G. , DPM, who I am finding out is very certified in this type of

treatment. I would like to speak with others who are going through

this.

We have taken Austin to Dr. in Grand Rapids since he was born 8/1/05 and

have found him to very knowledgeable and a very nice man. We just had a check up

last week and everything is great. I would very much recommend Dr. . Let me

CONGRATS on your pregnancy!!!! Our first son had unilateral right

clubfoot. We also live in MI (a suburb of Detroit). We traveled to

Iowa City to receive treatment from Dr. Ponseti. At the time there

were no Ponseti Certified doctors. Now, we travel to Grand Rapids to

see Dr. for our checkups. (he sends the info on to Dr. Ponseti

who has always been in full agreement with what Dr. sees) Dr.

is fairly new (I think he's been doing it for three years) to

the " Ponseti Method " - but is on the certified list. Please email me

Hello and welcome to the group! My daughter is now 6 and was

treated by Dr. Ponseti in Iowa. We lived in the UP when she was

born, but have since moved out of Michigan. One of the Michigan

moms, Helen, reads this board and wanted to reply to you, but she's

having problems posting to the board, so she emailed me this note

and asked me to post it for her...so I'll paste it below!

Congratulations on your baby and on connecting with Dr ! We

are in Ann Arbor but (long story) got treated unsuccessfully locally

and found our way to Dr Herzenberg when our baby was 9 months old.

We later saw Dr Ponseti and now our " baby " is almost 2 and things

are going well.

When we were in Iowa in November, we met Dr . He seems very

nice and Dr P speaks very highly of him! And he is the ONLY

certified Ponseti doctor in Michigan!

congratulations on your upcoming arrival. I do not know about the doctor you

mention but want to encourage you of course to follow the Ponseti Method all the

boys if that helps you believe that your child really has little to worry about

in the future provided his treatment is conducted correctly.

My son was born with bilateral clubfoot too. Unfortunately, we didn't find out

until after he was born.

I don't know of Dr. offhand, but maybe some others here may have some

experience with him? Where is he/you located?

Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to the board! I am in

metro Detroit and we have seen a doctor at Children's Hospital, who

follows Ponseti method but is not certified. We saw Dr. last

month for a second opinion just to put our minds at ease and liked him

a lot. If I had known when we started what I know now we would have

definitely used a Ponseti certified doctor for treatment. Fortunately

Dr. gave the stamp of approval at our consultation with him so

it seems our doctor did a good job. If you would like information on

who we see I would be happy to share, but if you are seeing Dr.

then I think you are in wonderful hands!
