Greetings from new parents

Hello everyone. My name is Mark and on Wednesday, 7/26/06 my wife

gave birth to our beautiful baby boy, Brayden.

It appears Brayden, like his daddy (myself), was born with a left club

foot. We have an appointment with Dr. Rieger, a Ponseti trained MD, in

New Jersey Monday and will learn a great deal more I'm sure. We are

encouraged by everything we've read about Dr. Ponseti's method. 30+

years ago I overcame numerous surgical procedures and some rather

unconventional practices to neutralize the disabling effects of

clubfoot. I have some cosmetic differences in my left leg and foot,

but have never, ever let it slow me down. I feel lucky. To think

Brayden may be afforded the opportunity for such better care is so

encouraging!

Today, I just wanted to come in and say " hi " to everyone. We have been

reading through the wealth of info here and would just like to thank

everyone for sharing. I look forward to reading all of your

experiences and sharing our own, and perhaps, reaching out to a few of

you.

Thank you and God bless.

Mark

Welcome! Congratulations on the arrival of your baby boy. You have made a

wonderful decision to use the Ponseti Method. I am not very familiar with the

doctor you will be going to, but just make sure he/she follows the method 100%.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have on your son's journey to

perfect feet. This whole process is a learning experience for all of us - it's

just that some are at different stages than others. Let us know how everything

goes.

Welcome, Mark & , and congrats on your baby boy!

If you search the archives with Dr. Rieger's name, you'll see some

old threads from families who have used him as their child's

doctor. If I remember correctly, they all had positive reports. If

you end up having a good repoir with Dr. Rieger, you can put a bug

in his ear about submitting the paperwork to get listed on Dr.

Ponseti's qualified physician's list as that's the best tool we have

for referring families to Ponseti doctors near them.

I hope your son's treatment goes very well. There's a site here

that might help you in your research if you haven't seen it already:

http://members.tripod.com/ponseti_links-ivil

Take lots of pictures to document his treatment- you won't believe

the transformation! You'll want to have lots of pictures of his

feet at birth so you can show him (when he's bigger) how his feet

used to look. That's one thing I wish I had more of- pictures of

's foot before casting started!

We look forward to hearing about Brayden's progress- and share

pictures when you're able to!

FYI- for Mark, there's a group on yahoo for adults with clubfoot

also at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thefeetclub

Regards,

& (3-16-00, lcf)

Hi Mark and family, I think you'll have a deep appreciation for Dr.

Ponseti and the treatment that your son will get when you see how

different things are now! I also had a clubfoot and my son has

bilateral clubfeet and I can't tell you how grateful I am that there

has been such dramatic progress in treatment because I wouldn't wish

the things I've been through with mine (13 surgeries, casting,

traction, hospitalization for up to 6 months at a time, etc...) on

my worst enemy!

God Bless and best wishes to you and your wife.

Just to let you know-Dr Rieger is on the list! As well as a couple

of other newbies-one in Chicago. I am so excited to see new doctors

get added!
