My mom used the pattern and has made Aleksander several sleep sacks

using it. She is modifying it now since he's outgrown it (and he's

not 2 yet!). But she said it is very easy to figure out, and has

even made the sleep sacks with short sleeves for summer.

We love them, and they are very easy, so she says!

The sleep sack pattern is actually a 2T. Adding length onto the pattern

is fairly easy and can be done. If you would like a bigger size, 3T or

even 4T, I can make one up. Those sizes would be bigger through the

arms and chest area as well as extra length. Since Lily is 15 months,

the 2T should fit her, but if she needs extra length you can add it

easily. I think the other ideas that popped up included: taping the

ends of the straps so they were harder to pull out of the buckle or

cutting a button hole in the strap and sewing a button to where the

strap would attach.

Removing the braces herself

Well, " self do it " has entered unacceptable territory (although when

she smeared herself in vaseline like we apply suntan lotion to her, I

wasn't keen on that either). Lily, 15 months, is removing her

s ALL THE TIME. In bed (I now put the sleepsack on her at

sleep times but she has almost outgrown her sleepsack), in the

carseat, and many other times! She decided 8 hours out of the brace

was pretty great so why not " upgrade " herself to 24 hours out?

Seriously, we had no problems with this at 2 hours out but she

started walking and for the first time ever seems annoyed with her

boots.

I tell her no very firmly but for goodness sake, she is 15 months

old. I read a thread along these lines not too long ago and wondered

what the successful technique was. Is Livi's mom out there--what

worked? In addition, I saw there was a pattern here for a 3T sleep

sack--has anyone made this? Lily is 32 " long presently and wondering

if this would work for her if I can commission a family member to

make it. I thought about an ace bandage but was concerned about lack

of traction then. Any other brilliant ideas?

Thank you.

Oh! I'm glad I checked in this morning!

It has been a battle with Livi, still. I turned the shoes so that

the buckes are on the outside. That made NO difference, its just

harder to put the shoes on now. Tape is what works for us. Try tape

first, and if that doesn't help, then try reversing the shoes + tape.

We use the white papery kind of tape - like elementary teachers use -

can't think of its proper name. I wrap tape around each buckle/strap,

covering the strap right outside where it pulls through, and covering

as much of the buckle part as I can. I have to wrap it really well -

if I don't use enough tape, she can tear it off herself.

Good luck!
