Guest guest
Zachary went to see his orthosist yesterday, one week short of his reduced hours in the DBB. We're almost finished the three months of 23/7. Hooray! The orthosist made some adjustments to Zachary's Markell boots. First, she removed the thick velcro strap from the top of the boots. Second, she added padding on the tongue and readjusted the extra padding in the backs of the shoes. We skipped out on the bandaids two nights ago and what a mistake! Zachary's ankles are wide open again, so we've gone back to thick socks, Polysporin Kids, and big bandaids to protect Zachary's sensitive skin. Zach's feet are extra flexible and doing very well, despite the skin problems. We should be getting the PMs next week... just as Zachary goes to reduced wear. The freedom from 23/7 wear should give Zach's open skin a chance to heal completely -- hey, we're hopeful. I peeked under the tops of the bandaids this morning and they seem to be drying up again. The orthosist thought that all of the kicking that Zachary's doing lately probably hasn't helped the chafing on his ankles. He has figured out how to kick his legs independently with the brace on, trying to work those feet out of the DBB. Gone are the " newborn days " of the sleepy baby who didn't even realize he was wearing the DBB. Plugging onwards.... mom to Zachary (bcf 01/29/06)
