The head sweating could be a sign of hypoglycemia. Then again, our

kids do sweat a lot, so it could be just that.

You said that you give Jack something sweet and caloric before bed.

Have you tried a more complex carbohydrate? Sweet things will raise

his blood sugar and then there will be a sudden drop. Complex

carbohydrates take longer to break down and will maintain blood

sugars for a longer period of time. You should try things like

peanut butter and crackers, for example. Also, if you add

cornstarch to whatever he is drinking before bed, that will help,

too. But the drink must be cold in order for the cornstarch to

blend in properly.

One thing you can do to check for hypoglycemia is to check his

ketone levels in the morning. You can buy ketosticks at the drug

store. Just put a drop of urine on the pad, wait a few seconds and

compare the color of the pad to the chart on the bottle. If he has

even a trace, then you know you need to feed him before bed and he

is probably having some difficulty maintaining his sugars at night.

I hope this helps.

hi jamie!!

i would start checking his sugar when he awakens to see where he is

at. before bed youmay also want to go more for a complex carb and

protein, say a bagel with peanut butter or crackers with peanut

butter.

- Jodi is right - it could be a sign of hypog - but, she's

right again - our kids sweat alot. Ian sweats ALOT. But, his

sugars are always fine. He sweats when he's mad and crying and

sweats when he is giggling. I think the only time he doesn't sweat

is when he's sitting still! LOL I've noticed a big difference too

during the change of seasons - it's almost like his body takes

longer to adjust to the tempearature changes.

Good Luck.
