> So, the surgery makes you not want sweets?

I still have that urge for a bit of chocolate or some other goodie now and

then. I just don't want very much. The word " want " should not be read to

include any aspect of self-control.

> How about bread and other carbs?

I do want bread. I buy sprouted grain breads from Trader Joe's which have no

flour in them. My theory is that, aside from them being what I prefer, they

have no simple carbs in them. Again, I cannot eat more than one slice at a

time and only have a maximum of two slices in a day.

I have the urge to have some pasta once in a while. A couple of bites is

all that I can handle after I have had my protein. This leaves me with no

feeling of deprivation.

> So, it's not that you " have " to eat better, it's that you " want " to eat

better?

Well, it's not so much " want. " It would be more accurate to say that, after

eating my protein, I cannot eat much differently than I do. The concept of

single-handedly wiping out a box of Krispy Kremes is not a possibility in my

life, even if I wanted to (which I do not!).

Hi Theresa -

Four days! WOW! The " last suppers " are soon to end. What a change you

will find in your life. In reality, it is a bunch more convenient not

obsessing over food any more.

As to Splenda, it still is an artificial sweetener. The only one that I

remember as being tolerable (before Splenda) were the cyclamates. I had

thought they would be coming back because it seems the " data " that caused

their removal from the shelves, was manipulated by other interests - like

saccharin and sugar producers.

Splenda isn't anywhere near as offensive to me as equal. It is particularly

good in coffee and works in baking, too. I hate the other sweeteners in my

coffee and even weaned myself off of sweetened coffee altogether for a long

time. Now I have added sweetening to my morning coffee with the advent of

Splenda. It isn't perfect, but it's the best thing out there. It is

definitely worth a try.

You will find that things taste and smell very differently after surgery.

There will be things that you now like that you won't want near you in a few

days. However, this fact is overstated because, in my experience, your

interest (or dislike) for a certain food will probably be just about the

same as now within a few short weeks.

Hi JJ -

Don't worry, you will have the same results. Everyone worries that the

surgery won't " work for them. " If your surgeon does his or her job, there's

no way it can't work. That's not to say that nobody has a revision to

optimize the long-term loss. Fortunately, those cases are exceedingly rare.

So, the surgery makes you not want sweets? How about bread and other

carbs? This is hard for me to comprehend>>>>>.

No matter how hard a post opt tries to explain, its something you have to

experience for yourself to fully understand! The surgery seems to change

your tastes for certain kinds of foods. Even if you hate them post opt you

might like them months later when you try again. Not always though. I was

a huge ice cream lover.....jamocha almond fudge with lots of marshmellow

sauce and whipping cream when ever I could get it....every day if

possible.........post opt I can not stand the taste of ice cream!! Too rich

for me now! I dont even like milkshakes either!

As far as bread and pasta.......I eat those, just dont crave them like I

used to. I can make a wonderful fettuccini alfredo with shrimp loaded with

cream and parmasan cheese.....its to die for! And I make fresh homemade

rolls to go with it....but we dont eat that way every night. I do eat

sandwiches though. They dont hurt me in the least.

So, it's not that you " have " to eat better, it's that you " want " to

eat better?>>>>>>>>>>

Absolutly! You got it!!

Theresa,

I use splenda all the time. What is so neat about it is there is no

aftertase and you can use it in baking cup for cup as you would for sugar.

Splenda is real sugar.... I order mine from canada by the case......I

believe I got 12 and here it is a yr and a half later and I still have 3 or

4 more boxes left. The splenda you buy in the store is rather expenisive

compared to what you would pay by the case.
