I do not have a high pain level that I tolerate, nor did I have much pain after surgery beyond the first 4 or 5 days. Is this just because of different incisions? different pain levels? Obviously if you have pain, you should do something so you can continue to heal and recover, but it just surprises me since I was off them so fast. I guess I should just be thankful it was so easy for me. ~*~ AJ ~*~ Bellingham, WA Age 37 5'8'' Open DS self pay - Dr Baltasar -Alcoy Spain 07/24/01 BMI 64 415.1 08/24/01 BMI 58 386.5 -28.6 lbs! 09/24/01 BMI 55.8 367.1 -48.0 lbs! -37.75 inches 10/24/01 BMI 52.6 346.0 -69.1 lbs! -50.0 inches 11/14/01 BMI 50.8 334.0 -81.1 lbs! -66.0 inches My profile: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=E982002956 My website: www.wls4aj.homestead.com

My incisional pain was handled perfectly in the hospital. For about a week thereafter, I took Vicodin. One morning I decided to see if there was any pain to control and stopped it. There was never any pain after that. I don't think that the particular style of incision is the culprit. It seems that there is a wide variation in the level of pain that we have to endure as a result of this surgery. I do know that any hint of nausea that I might have had disappeared when I stopped the Vicodin. Best- Nick in Sage Dr. Keshishian - 8/29/01 - 79 lbs. Guest guest
Hi AJ - You are so right. Many things are much easier - and fit better, too. Chairs, booths, and my seatbelt are all working as they are supposed to. However, my hip pain is still just that - a pain. Guest guest
Hi Nick: I also still have really bad pain in my right hip from the damage all the weight I carried around for so long, my knees especially my right one also cause me pain off and on. I read the e-mails regarding pain meds with interest. I have been taking Vicodine/Loritabs 7.5, two 2 to 4 times per day and have been doing so for a long time. I have my liver checked each time they do my blood work and it has been fine. I look forward to the day I can have this hip replaced so I can wean myself off these pain meds. My heart surgeon knows what I take and sees no problem with it as I am very compliant with my meds and he knows I only take pain meds when I need them, but any hip surgery will have to wait until after I have the pace maker put in for the Cardio Myopathy I have developed. But I do understand the hip pain continuing. Hopefully you will find some relief soon. Huggles, Tiger
