Guest guest
Glad to hear that the visit went well and I know you are glad for the milder case that Garrison has. When we went to see Dr. P in January for 's last cast his written recommendation for the FAB was 2 1/2 months in the 23/7, then 18/7, then 16/7...but no details on how long to keep her in each of the hours. Anyway, it seems that he tailors each rec to the child. Kind of nice, huh? I was going to keep her in the FAB 23/7 for the full 3 months but today marks 2 1/2 months in 23/7 and with tomorrow being Easter, it seemed appropriate to set her free on Dr. P's time table (down to 18/7, anyway, which feels like freedom). He should know best, after all! Thanks for sharing Garrison's story! Carol and , 10-27-05, bcf, s 23/7 but getting set free for Easter! Garrison's update hi all, been hard to get on here lately but hope to give you a quick run down of dr. Ponseti's visit. Garrison's feet were pretty mild in comparisson. He had 4 casts and no tenotomy; we came home in a cast that he wears until April 26th, then in the s. Interesting on the FAB though - Ponseti said 22 or so hours for 2 months then down to 16. That's way off typical protocol but he said the feet were mild enough to warrent the slack. I also think he knows we comply with FAB wear and " know the ropes " so he trusted us with the reduced wear. We don't have a return trip for a check up either. He said to send pictures via email in July (or sooner if we suspect trouble). I sure did meet a lot of other cf parents in Iowa! Hello to you all if you're on here! shaw
Guest guest
ee, Its wonderful to hear that Garrison's case was mild. I'm pretty surprised that you've been given different hours on the FAB but like you said " you know the ropes! " That's great. Guest guest
I did ask Dr. Ponseti about the hours he prescribed and he just said Garrison's feet were so mild he did not foresee any risk in going with a lower amount of time. It's only a small reduction, really, from 23 to 22, and from 3 months to 2 months. s. Re: Garrison's update ee, Its wonderful to hear that Garrison's case was mild.
