Guest guest
Jodi - I'm so sorry. Completely unacceptable. If it were me.....I would call in the evening after hours and find out who is on call that night.......maybe it's even Dr. Rosh. If not, try talking to that physician after hours - after all - if Max is having hiccups and does not have his medicine.....it would be cause enough for me to call. Also, if you don't get anywhere with the physician this evening - the next thing I would do is try calling Dr. Rosh at home. Hey, it's what I would do. I would apologize profusely and explain you are participating in the same holiday but, this crisis has come up and since the rest of the office is unable to cooperate. Those are the only suggestions I have. I think your husband going in may or may not get some results - for your sake - it will definately make you feel better. I'd be happy to make the calls for you <grin>. I'm really good at it! <BIG GRIN> Even if my suggestions seem way out there. I'm sending you some hugs in hopes they will make you feel a little better. - H > Oh, I need to blow off steam! Oh, I am so angry!!!!!! > > I got a call from Max's case manager today. Guest guest
Chrissy - that's a great avenue/idea to try too. I would try that as well. - H > I would get your pediatrican to write the note and the school will probably > except it. > Good luck > Chrissy > > >
Guest guest
I cannot in good conscience call the doctor at home, but I can email him. I can also call the doctor who is covering for him tomorrow and raise hell. Actually, I'll get my husband to do it. He needs to take more action in this. I'm tired of running myself ragged over this stuff and cooking for the holiday and teaching and everything else. Let him step in. I hate to admit it, but he sometimes gets results when I can't. Jodi Z Did I mention that Max wants to try going to school for just two hours each day? Good for him. He wants to be there and will do whatever he can to get whatever he can. What an ordeal this is! Guest guest
Good luck to you. I have HAD it!!!! Oh, I need to blow off steam! Oh, I am so angry!!!!!! I got a call from Max's case manager today. She said that I need to get a doctor's note frome the GI that explains why Max is not in school. Why didn't they tell me this last week????? Okay, so I called the GI's office. Dr. Rosh, Max's official GI, has left for the day because of Rosh Hashanah. Well, I celebrate that holiday, too, but I was still at work at 3:15.... He is out of the office until Thursday, but some other doctor in the office said that Max should be in school and that he does not need a note. Even if he did, no one will write it until Dr. Rosh returns. I had a fit. I totally lost it. Max cannot go to school because he is ruminating/hiccuping all the time. He also throws up at unexpected moments, sometimes barely making it to the bathroom on time. Then, the kids at school start getting annoyed with him for making these noises and he gets stressed which starts the cycle all over again. I told this nurse that this was unacceptable and that he needs the note now so that he can start home instruction immediately. She said the drs. there said no. I told her that she and that staff are responsible for my son not getting the education that he needs and is entitled to because of their stubbornness and unwillingness to work with us. Max IS willing to go to school for the first three periods of the day (small classes, great teachers) but he cannot handle the full day. The nurse will only turn him around and send him back home again. Then I told her that I had spoken to Dr. Yusef over the weekend and HE wanted to start Max on Zelnorm this week - tomorrow to be exact. I wanted her to call in the prescription today so that I could have the med for tomorrow morning AND because tomorrow is MY holiday and I don't want to have to go to the store to get it. She said okay. Next, I called my husband and told him what happened. He called the GI office and let them have it. Basically he said he will call them in the morning and show up in the afternoon to pick up the note. No ifs, ands, or buts. Okay, things are looking up a bit, right? Well, I went to the drug store and they never called in the Zelnorm!!!! Let me get this straight.... The drs. there are saying Max CAN go to school, but they are NOT giving him the MEDS that he needs to get better so that he can go! It's bad enough that Dr. Rosh would not start Max on antibiotics right away in case he test positive for the H Pylori infection (we could stop it if it's negative), but the EXPERT in rumination in that office recommends Zelnorm to help him and they don't call it in for Max. I've had it. It's my holiday and now I have to spend it tomorrow calling all over the place, fighting and trying to get meds and a note for my son. I'm going to call the pediatrician as well and get her to write a note if I have to. I'll even take Max in to see her if I can. But this whole thing is so unnecessary. It's inexcusable. Max has been through enough. We've been through enough. I don't know what has happened in that GI office, but things are not as they once were. I don't know where to turn now. Guest guest
Dear Jodi: So sorry to hear about your problems. Do you keep documentations of all of this. If not Start. Than i know this is going to sound like a big challenge but hun you can do it. The next time you State Legislature meets you need to get in touch with your local representitive and in form them of what is going on and fight the legislature if you have to but you can get it done. and i did it here in ND along with the help of some others but we got it done. I will be more than happy to help you with everything. If every person on this listserve started taking on thier legislature things would be much easier for our kids. Don't let them intimidate you. With the help of computors today you can get alot done. Than once things are moving on a state level thru out this country than we can work on congress to help fight this fight . Trust me it is alot of hard work but in the end it is well worth it. When the Governor here signed the bill and i were fighting for i don't think there was a dry eye in the room. Plus get the media on your side and keep them involved. We did and it was on TV, IN all the top Cities newspapers and we didn't stop. You will be surprised how many people will be upset on how our kids are being treated. I had a meeting with our State Senator Byron Dorgan and he was outraged at the lack of Health coverage for our kids. So we have to band together and pardon my Language, fight like hell if we are going to get help our kids deserve. Love Sheldon (G-Pa to my Angel Laikyn) and home to stubborn German's and Crazy Norwegians that don't take no for an answer. I have HAD it!!!! Oh, I need to blow off steam! Oh, I am so angry!!!!!! Hugs to you, my heart friend! ) Jodi R. > I cannot in good conscience call the doctor at home, but I can email > him. I can also call the doctor who is covering for him tomorrow and > raise hell. Guest guest
You know - it's usually a man's voice that gets things done. Why? I don't know especially when it comes to the medical field. It shouldn't matter if it's the husband or wife calling - IT'S A PARENT OF A CHILD!!! DAMN IT. I hate that.
