Guest guest
OK, I'm starting to feel like I'm having a conversation only with myself over here. Nevertheless, I will post the results of my supplement quest: Supplements that did not dissolve in 30 min. in 6oz. of white vinegar: Cal Apatite with Boron (rock hard) GNC Multi Gel-Caps One a Day for Men (doesn't have iron or calcium) Theragran High Potency ADEKs (rock hard) Twin Lab's One a Day capsules (dissolved partially) Chromagen Forte (iron Rx) Supplements that did dissolve in 30 min. in 6oz. of white vinegar: Centrum Silver (within 15 minutes!) (has E & K, too; and NO SMELL!!) GNC Calcimate (calcium citrate/malate; better than plain citrate) Twin Lab's Allergy A & D GNC Ultra Acidophilus ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE WHO TAKES CHROMAGEN FORTE? HOW HAVE YOUR IRON LEVELS BEEN?? Suffice it to say, I'm going to use all the supplements that DID dissolve, except for one: the Chromagen Forte. Hope my stomach can dissolve that sucker faster than vinegar. Best,

LOL I have taken the chromagen Forte and my iron levels have been fine at 3 months and 6 months out. I'm sure there are quite a few others who take this supplement -- It is supposed to be easier on the stomach and contains liquid iron in that capsule... I'm not sure why it didn't 'dissolve'... It also contains vit C to maximize the iron absorption. all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. GAgner/Mt. Guest guest
Hey, . Yeah, I'm not sure why the Chromagen Forte didn't dissolve. First off, it's not liquid inside, but a kind of gel. Second, vinegar IS NOT stomach acid, although I hope it mimics the PH pretty well. The capsule did become quite soft, however, so I have some hope. Good to hear that your iron levels are OK. Guest guest
Hi - I've been enjoying your posts over the past few days..lol. One question...the ADEKs didn't dissolve? Hmmm...wont this cause a problem? (oops 2 questions) Take care,
Guest guest
, The ADEK's are not a problem if you chew them! Remember they were made for cystic fibrosis patients who have a real problem with malabsorption so it works for us too. Judie

Guest guest
Hi, . I'm glad that you asked these questions because it crossed my mind for a brief second last night that my post could have been misleading. When I put the ADEKs in vinegar, I put one in whole and another in halved. They barely even softened. Remember, though, that these are CHEWABLE vitamins. You must chew these babies. There are two reasons that I tried to dissolve them whole (or partially whole): 1. Chewing them makes me want to hurl so I thought I could either swallow them whole or halved and get the benefits of ADEKs without the chewing. 2. Scandipharm's web site says that ADEKs can be " halved . . . and swallowed, " so I thought that gave me carte blanche to do number one. Despite what the web site says, the knowledgable people at Scandipharm's customer service center always recommend chewing these vitamins, not swallowing them whole or in halves. All of this is to say that, if you do as you're " told " (something I've always had trouble with!) and chew these vitamins well, you won't have any problems! I still think that ADEKs ARE superior to Twin Lab's Allergy A & D if you can " stomach " them because they have vitamins E & K in them and Allergy, of course, does not. Yeah, I know that there are no studies that show that D/Sers have E & K problems and so the ADEKs may be overkill. But why not be on the safe side if at all possible? Guest guest
Right, Judie! See my clarification post about them. I was trying " to get around " having to chew these wonderful tablets. Obviously, it ain't gonna work so I'm switching to the Allergy A & D. Your devoted and grateful servant, etc., > , > The ADEK's are not a problem if you chew them!
