I tell you, I went in there wanting a boob job and now I'm thinking of a tummy tuck, too! Actually, I'm sure I'd be just fine without either of these surgeries but the results were phenomenal!!! Why not ? I was so worried that the way my breasts or stomach are (or will be) would be considered more 'cosmetic', but the insurance lady from that surgeon's practice said that losing 100 lbs automatically qualifies one has having a 'medical necessity'... So, that brightened up my day immensely! Problem is that particular surgeon does not accept insurance. I have Oxford Freedom (a Point of Service Plan) and could see him out of network --- It would just involve some out of pocket expenses (300 deductable) and 20% of everything (once approved). I think I could swing it... but It's not until at least Sept next year and my deductables go by calendar year, so I think I might be doing it the following year (2003) instead of rushing it in 2002... We'll see! Maybe I'll just decide only to get the breasts done or not do anything at all... We'll see! all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. Gagner/Mt. I guess I will have to call and find out...So I am thinking after the TT a belly button ring? >> Lisbeth: Yeah, a nice DIAMOND ONE, man (like I could afford that after footing the bill for 20 pct of those surgeries! LOL)... The scarring on the tuck is considerable but I think when it fades it isn't so terrible.. especially since it's right by the groin area... My tummy really isn't that bad --- but it's still there. I know that two pregnancies and this massive weight loss just won't put it back to where it was. I don't have to have a totally flat tummy, either -- I just don't want it so obvious. I think it will definately interefere with wearing clothes the more and more I lose weight. I also have experienced pretty severe lower back pain --- and have sciatica. I think this could be used to bolster the arguement for the need for a TT in my case... Hopefully! I didn't realize that when the stomach muscles are separated (as with pregnancy/massive weight loss or BOTH LOL), they do NOT come back together again. A certain amount of 'hang' or excess weight will remain even with exercise and toning.... hmmm.. That really got me thinking.... And, my breasts are really bothering me. Once again, they don't look atrocious but they do interfere with wearing clothes at times and I have experienced upper back aches (which Dr. Herron diagnosed as 'muscular-skeletal at my 9 month visit)... I'd love to see them lifted and also reduced a bit (I'm a 40C now, so I'll still be big-breasted even after the reduction! LOL). I even contemplated getting some kind of ivy or floral tattoo around the tummy tuck scar... hmmm... now that would look very pretty, IMHO. I'm paranoid of a tattoo there (ouch!) but If I survive the DS and that plastic surgery, a tattoo will seem like a walk in the damn park! I think I'd probably prefer a tattoo along that area to piercing the belly button, but hey -- if the tummy is flat and nice, why not???? :) Another plus: A lot of the stretch marks from pregnancy/massive weight loss is REMOVED and/or reduced with the TT --- wow!!!! That would really be nice for me... all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. Gagner/Mt. Guest guest
COngratulations on reaching this new milestone. Who knows, perhaps I will get courageous and take the plunge.
