Guest guest
Hello, I'd thought I'd introduce myself to the list. I've been doing the diet for about 8 months and have had good results with my 6 year old daughter. My daughter, at around 5 had stopped eating much wheat. Of course, she still ate pizza and donuts but she had pulled herself off of bread--the thing she had craved. Testing showed she would benefit and thus we began. Because she had already pulled herself off sandwiches and rolls, I generally had to replace cookies, pizza, and such. Recently, she has developed the urge to cheat. I was astonished when we were in Mcs and she grabbed my hamburger, bun and all, and took a bite. I was so surprised and horrified, I actaully shrieked--hurried the rest of the trip so I could at least get home and give her some extra enzymes. I'm hypothesizing that before she had figured out wheat made her feel bad and avoided all but the most tempting forms of it. Now she feels better--and thus the natural urge to cheat. I'd like any advice on education. I'm thinking of a social story. Also, because I also keep her off eggs (which she is senstive to--as well as beans)--I'm trying to find sandwich and roll recipees she might like. She does like the corn bread recipess found in Special Food for Special kids, the Crumpets from Bette Hagman's book. Surprisingly she doesn't like some of the easier to make Miss Roben mixes, (The dinner rolls and The ANDI Wonder Bread).
