Guest guest
Hi, Ruth, I'm sorry that Bengi might be facing an ATTT. There have been many posts on this board regarding that topic. If you type ATTT into the search box, it will bring all of the old threads up for you to read. I would also suggest typing words like " Atlanta " and " sey " for example to read about people's experiences with the Atlanta docs. I know you've traveled a long road with Bengi's foot...it's good to hear from you, but I wish it were under better circumstances. Hang in there and please keep us posted! & (3-16-00, lcf) > > Hello, > I need some advice or opinions. Guest guest
Hi Ruth, My daughter Emma had the ATTT done in Iowa in Nov 2003 by Dr. Morcuende. Dr. Ponseti referred to it as " ...a very good operation " to a visiting doctor. Basically, the anterior tibialis tendon (the one we use to pull our feet up) is detached from its current position on the inside of the foot and moved over about 2cm to the outside of the foot. Children are either released the same day or kept over night. The tough part isn't the surgery but the six weeks of post-operative casts. Emma was four at the time and needed a good bit of extra attention at first but kids adapt quickly to new situations. When the casts came off it took Emma about 10 days to start walking normally because of the muscle atrophy. The only pain she experienced after was when her level of activity increased. For a few days the muscles around her feet would ache occasionally but this is perfectly normal and not all children seem to be affected that way. If you have more questions please feel free to post again or write to my personal e-mail. Dan
