Guest guest
Hi there, Is your first baby? If so, then I think it might just be hard to watch the struggles which go along with babies learning their developmental milestones (which crawling is not actually even considered to be one because not all babies do it and there is such a wide variety of ages the do it at). I always struggle to watch all my babies try to do something, from rolling over to walking. I have done this with four babies now and it is still hard, though not as hard as with the first one. is too young to crawl, but my non-club footed three other babies crawled a 9 1/2, 10 1/2 and 8 months respectively so you can see there is a pretty wide range of " normal " for babies crawl at, even without a brace on part of the time. Hang in there and he will do it in his own timing. Carol and concerned about crawling Hi I have not posted for a while, my " Little Prince " was born with a left club foot. He is being treated by Dr. Ponseti. He is in his shoes now 16-18 hours. He is soooo wanting to crawl with and without the shoes/brace. I am feeling sooo helpless and frustrated that he can't do it. They just keep telling us that " babies crawl with these on! " I just can't imagine it! He just turned 8 months a few days ago. I would love to hear from someone. It is breaking my heart to watch him! thanks s mom
Guest guest
Hi, Austin is 9 1/2 months old and he started crawling when he was about 5 1/2 months to 6 months old. He started with the commando crawl and did that fine with the bar and without the bar. Just about 2 weeks ago he was to start crawling on his hands and knees. Either way he has been able to get around fine for the past few months. Good luck Reid Austin -8/1/05 BCF reeds2maui wrote: Hi I have not posted for a while, my " Little Prince " was born with a left club foot. He is being treated by Dr. Ponseti. Guest guest
My boys both crawled at 6 months of age. after 6 months of casting, and Everett while in his Ponseti FAB. Not that your child is " behind " developmentally, but he will crawl when he's ready, with or with out the FAB. Or he might skip crawling and go straigh to crusing/walking! s. concerned about crawling Hi I have not posted for a while, my " Little Prince " was born with a left club foot. Guest guest
Hi 's mommy! My little prince too was a late crawler(first child as well)-he didnt begin crawling until he was 9 months old-actually he started crawling 1 day before he had hand surgery!! so cast and all-he was crawling commando style. He didnt start walking until this past february. However, once he started crawling, he never stopped and didnt slow down. If you are truly concerned-have carter evaluated by your county's early intervention program. My son is in EI and receives pt, ot, and speech therapy. As much as you want to do it for him, he will do it in his own time. hang in there, kathleen mom to david 20 mo old bcf fab 12/7 > > Hi I have not posted for a while, my " Little Prince " was born > with a left club foot. Guest guest
My little guy with bcf (3 1/2 mos old) just figured out how to roll over both ways wearing the DBB. Meanwhile, my first son (no clubfeet) didn't roll over til 5 1/2 mos., so it just goes to show ya how different babies can be. I remember getting down on the floor with my older son (now 23 mos) and trying to " help " him roll over. Then he surprised all of us by commando crawling at 7 months. Who knows! > > > > Hi I have not posted for a while, my " Little Prince " was born > > with a left club foot. He is being treated by Dr. Ponseti. He is in > > his shoes now 16-18 hours. Guest guest
Mollie strarted crawling in her brace at 10 months (in march) and is now totally unstoppable. Try not to worry, once he figures it out, you wonder why you wanted him to able to get around in the first place lol!! Guest guest
AHH, the waiting and the have patience it will happen game. Just remember that baby's brains are programmed to move; so they will eventually do it. Tenny went into his FAB when he was 7 months and he crawled before we reduced hours at 10 months. One old cowboy commented to me that " he sure gets around good with that fancy pair of spurs on. " will do the moving thing with the brace. It will happen. If I say have patience, will you slap me? (I always say I don't want patience that bad) Yesturday morning, Tenny climbed from the floor, up the side of the tub and onto the bathroom counter in his brace. In fact, I put his shoes on him for nap time so he won't climb out of his crib and tell me " done " . (Tenny is just about 2) Next week he will probably figure how to get out of the crib with his shoes on, just since I opened my big mouth today. will figure it out soon. In the mean time, do ya want to trade kids for a bit? One less child moving at this house would be awfully nice. Mom to Tenny rt. cf. Guest guest
My kids did not crawl until 11 months and 10 months. Sammy at 10 months in his FAB. Crawling is one of those milestones that not every baby actually does, like ee said, sometimes they just skip it. : ) allison Mom to Jenna (4/7/01) & Sammy (9/25/04, RCF, Dobbs' brace, 12-14hrs/day) > > My boys both crawled at 6 months of age. after 6 months of casting, and Everett while in his Ponseti FAB. Guest guest
Have no fear! He WILL figure it out. My crawled like a speed demon with his brace on. They even took video of him at Shriner's to show to other parents because the brace didn't slow him down a bit! He also walked in the brace which absolutely blew my mind. I didn't think it was possible. But he acted as if it was a part of his body and he learned what he needed to learn with the darn thing on. and bilateral cf dbb 14/7 > Hi I have not posted for a while, my " Little Prince " was born > with a left club foot. Guest guest
Our daughter crawled much much better in her brace than without it on when she first started crawling. Believe me they do crawl, cruise, climb, even dance (the macarana - Kori's daughter) in it. Our daughter started crawling at right around 's age, believe me, one day soon he is gonna take off and then you will be running after him ever after lol. & Grace 22 mos urcf FAB 13hrs > > Hi I have not posted for a while, my " Little Prince " was born > with a left club foot. Guest guest
My Maddie, who just turned 8 months, is in the FAB about 14 hours a day. She isn't crawling yet either. In fact she just learned how to roll over last week. I don't think that not crawling is a problem yet, but I'm new at this too, so I don't know. Guest guest
My son Logan just turned 9 months this week. He doesn’t crawl. We are only in the FAB 12-14 hours, so it really has nothing to do with his crawling. Logan just does not want to do it. He has always hated to be on his stomach, and now wants to try to pull himself up. Babies seem to do things when they are ready. My nephew crawled so well he never wanted to walk. At some point there was a ponsetti video everyone was downloading that showed kids crawling and walking with the FAB on. Don’t worry, if he wants to crawl, he’ll get it. and Logan (9mo ucf fab 12-14 hours) Re: concerned about crawling My Maddie, who just turned 8 months, is in the FAB about 14 hours a day.
