Now there is still a bowl of litter under the toilet seat because the other cats haven't mastered the rim squat like Dude. I think that eventually I'll be able to dispense with the bowl entirely! Guest guest
There are at least 2 kits. The most popular one is the Litter Quitter. I didn't buy it because in the reviews some people mentioned it being too flimsy for their bigger cats. Dude is about 18 lbs, so I was afraid it would buckle under him & that would be the end of toilet-training him! So I went with a home-made system using a bowl that is suspended under the toilet seat. Once you've got all the cats "perching" on the seat, you are supposed to gradually reduce the litter & then replace it with water. When they've gotten used to the sound of their poop landing in water, you take the bowl away. I think I could do that with Dude now, but the other 2 cats haven't gotten the idea yet. It's still easier for me to take care of the one bowl than the 3 cat boxes I had. I'm in the bathroom several times a day & I just scoop out any deposits. I change the litter once a day. I saw a few little videos on youtube of cats using the toilet. I would really like my bedroom cat, Quincy, to master that (he has the master bath to himself). I know you told me how to do it, but do you know if there are kits online? Guest guest
Yep, we use Special Kitty litter from WalMart. Luckily my cats aren't picky.
