Guest guest
hi everyone , new again, dakoda previously diag rss/sga. i seen Dr. H she stated no rss , but sga, recently went to another endo stated rss , anyway i think sga as Dr. H stated and endo here have missed it , but sd his right side is larger than right. mainly chest and abdomen , no limb assymetry. but most every other characteristic, my question is about ght , my sister states will cause early puberty like in 2nd grade , now that's got me worried. Is this true and are there any other side effects i should worry about .. they put him on high caloric diet and starch in food at night , but hard to get him to eat that often , will ght help that . sheryl , dakoda sga 31lbs at 5 1/2yrs --------------------------------- Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page
Guest guest
Sheryl, It is not gh that causes early puberty. Early puberty is more of a biochemical activity that occurs in our RSS and even SGA children. Probably the reason you were told that gh causes early puberty in second grade is because that is when we see some of our kids show signs of it whether they are on gh or not. Actually, it is not puberty itself, but adrenarche. That is when their bodies begin to produce more estrogen and, as Dr. H. says, estrogen is the enemy. At this point, most kids start taking Arimidex to stop that estrogen production. If they don't take it, the estrogen will make the bone age advance and if it does, then there is the chance that the growth plates will fuse earlier and the chance to gain extra height is lost. Now that I have probably confused you, at the convention you will hear more about this. Dr. H. does an excellent presentation that explains it and you will walk away with a better understanding. Don't be afraid of gh. It helps our kids grow which has so many positive effects on their lives. Jodi Z
Guest guest
Sheryl, Hello and welcome. My daughter Madison who will be 4 in August was on GHT. She was only on it for a lil over a year. She began earlier signs of puberty like growing breast buds and armpit odor, and she became diabetic. so her endo doc here in Philly and Dr. H thought it was time to take her off. Although this is not the same for everyone. Every child is diffrerent and your child may never recieve a single side effect. On a positive note maddy may not have gained any weight but she did grow a lil taller and her hair nails and feet grew like you wouldn't believe so there is alot of positive to this!!! Good luck and hope it works out for you and your lil angel. Chrissy 25 mom to..... Louis 6 Madison 3 RSS Shane 1 10 months
