Guest guest
Joy, I would be interested in speaking with you via phone as my daughter I suspect has a leg length difference that the local ortho seems to ignore and think Im full of it. IM NOT! As far as those pains, when I was younger and still (I didnt have CF) I would get those pains that you are describing, and they always choked it up as 'growing pains' and never checked me. Well when I was 17 my lower back was hurting real bad, so I went to the Chiropractor, they did xrays and found that I had a milder form of Scoliosis! I dont want to scare you, but her pains may be valid. Check into that, if you find its not that, maybe check into a slight shoe lift. I have heard that leg length differences that arnt treated by lifts, etc. can take a toll of you skeletal structure and cause pain. Guest guest
Joy, I agree with Christee's suggestion about maybe seeing a chiropractor if your insurance covers it. I recently had at a chiropractor too for an evaluation (just b/c it was free not b/c she had any issues). They can check to make sure that her hips are level and that she's got a correct stance that's not causing any issues. Perhaps an orthotic in her shoe would help if the leg-length difference is causing her to be off-kilter. Did you feel or hear the popping noise that she complained of in her ankle? Do you notice if the complaints coincide with days where she's been very active? When is Grant's next checkup for his feet? Maybe Dr. Koop could take a look at Rose for you while you're there? I understand your dilemma trying to figure out if her complaints are " valid " or just typical kid behavior. I'm dealing with that all the time too! Guest guest
Joy, It sounds like you've thought of everything I would have suggested. Growing pains would be my first guess. How big is her leg length discrepancy? I have one, and I've never had any troubles directly related to it. The thing with the achilles is odd, I don't recall ever hearing anything like that. I would definitely email Dr. about all of it, but especially that part. Oh, I was also going to say that Rose is probably old enough to have a conversation with about being in real pain vs. needing attention. Best wishes, > > I've been really debating about posting this, but I need some feedback. > > A little history: Rose started treatment with Dr. Ponseti after 6 months of > casting for a unilateral left clubfoot.
