CHAT Deb - Adam and school issues and GHT

Hey Deb,

I was just wondering how Adam was doing now and hoping that everything

worked out with that nasty teacher and HIS issues!?

I'm not sure if you mentioned it before but what GHT does Adam use?

The recommended one for us is Humatrope that comes in the pen that you

dial to the right dose.

Hi Dawna

No Adam's school issues are getting worse. the teacher spent 5

minutes tonight reaming me out because Adam wouldn't copy a bunch of

math questions off the board. His IEP clearly states NO COPYING of

any kind. But the man is just not going ot listen.

I have to ask the principal tomorrow for a meeting.

As for the GHT Adam is using Humatrope as well. We have the syringe

method.

Deb,

I NEVER make my students copy the math questions from the board or

from the book. I write them on paper myself and photocopy them for

everyone. Then we use the book or board as a guide. Today we were

doing subtraction with regrouping. I did the problem on the board

first and then had the kids do the same problem on the paper I had

given them. Copying is a waste of time. I don't even make them do

all the problems on the page in the book. No need. If they can do 10

correctly, why do 25?

out. Unbelievable ... you'll win Deb, it's just too bad that he has

to put you through it!

It's just doubly difficult since I work in the same school. Oh I

sometimes think I can hardly wait until he goes to high school next

year. The teachers there will not be in the same union as me and I

can go and raise blue murder if I need to. But, then again, I am

deathly afraid that I will be living at that school and wishing I had

the convience of " being in the school " again to deal with the

problems. The grass is always greener....you know how that goes!!

Of course there is this tiny bit of me that is trying hard NOT to get

my hopes up, but perhaps the high school system will be such that

Adam will finally 'come into his own' and thrive. I can always dream

right???

sorry to hear things are getting worse with that jerk of a teacher!!

did you make any head way with the princple?

I never saw this email and I thought I had gotten good at checking the YAHOO

site. This is almost 2 weeks ago!! Darn gremlin!!

Adam is on Humatrope but the vial/syringe method. We were never offered the

pen devise, but I have since heard that you can get more exact dosage with

the syringe than the pen, but otherwise no difference. For me? I took what I

could get!! Beggars can't be choosers right???
