Our daughter also got her helmet on a Thursday.  I think you should only be able to get bands on Monday and Tuesdays, so you have more days to go back with questions.  She had red spots, but not ones that were irritated.  We went back Friday, they took a little out of the inside of her helmet to try to help with the red spots.  Saturday morning it was red again, and stayed red for 36 hours, gave me plenty of decorating time.  We went back again on Monday, they adjusted it again, they also said that spot will most likely have some red because her head wants to grow there.  They said not to worry about it, unless it is irritated. So now her spot is always slightly pink, not near as red as it originally was.  We just check it every time we take the helmet off to see if it is irritated at all, but have had no problems since our initial weekend.  Also even with the band off the whole first weekend, we still saw improvement the first week.  :-)

Please call them first thing Monday morning, since it is irritated they defiantly need to look at it.  Good Luck!ROur daughter got her DOC band April 22, 2010

Hey, guys,

Our son got his DOC band on Thursday, and it's Sunday now. For the most part he seems totally fine with it, like he doesn't even know it's there. But a few different times he has gotten really upset and puts his hands up by his ears and scratches at his skin. We take off the band and he keeps pulling at his ears for while. After a few minutes he's usually fine and we put the band back on. But this last time, it's stayed red near his ears and a little bit at the front and back too. Even after it's off, the redness is still bothering him because he's scratching at it.

Has anyone experience this and what did you do? I will of course call Cranial Tech in the morning, but just wondering if anyone has advice today. Of course, we can just leave it off and hope it improves.

Thanks so much!

My son has ezcema so we were watching his skin very closely when he first got his band. He got his band on a Friday and experienced redness where the strap is through the whole weekend. We then get an adjustment Monday morning and then again on Wednesday! Although it was a pain to go up to the office it was well worth it. You don't want there to be redness. I would remove the helmet and call first thing. The instructions say to remove the helmet if the redness doesn't go away after an hour. Are you pulling it too tight? If you do remove the helmet you should put it on one hour before the appointment. Otherwise, you have to wait at the office for the redness to appear so they know where to fix the problem.
