When do the feet go into overcorrected position?

Hi All,

At my daughter's last cast change there wasn't much noticeable change

from the week before. She has one more set to go before the

tenotomy. Her feet are just about at the " normal " position. The

right foot is still a bit more curved in than the left. Don't get me

wrong, the improvement from birth to now is incredible and I'm

extremely pleased. But, does the overcorrection take place with the

casts that go on after the tenotomy? Or, is it that the feet are just

held in the overcorrected position in the brace?

Once again, thanks in advance!

Hello jenny.

The over-correction should be achieved with the casting and manipulation

before the tenotomy is done. Kori has a picture of what the feet should look

like in the casts at that point. (Kori, please send to her). Is it possible

you can take pictures of your daughters feet at this point and send them to the

CFPics site? That way we can take a look and give more advice. It does sound

however that her feet aren't ready for the tenoyomy.

Which doctor are you seeing?

HTH.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I sent the most current photo of my girl's

feet. My guess is that the next and last casting will turn her feet

out a bit more and then we'll do the tenotomy.

The doctor who oversees our treatment is Dr. of Long Beach,

CA, who we found on Dr. Ponseti's list of certified doctors. His

fellow doctor, Dr. , is doing the casting and will do the

tenotomy as well. They do follow the technique without deviation or

modifications from what I have experienced thus far. But, I suppose

I'm trying to follow as closely as possible as the mommy.

Thanks!
