Guest guest
what she said... casts are not supposed to hurt. If he's that unhappy, I bet there's a pressure spot inside. get the cast off ASAP to check. Kori At 10:52 AM 3/2/2006, you wrote: >Your little guy should not be in pain!! Guest guest
Good news! Evan stopped crying Thursday evening (an hour or two after I made the appointment with Dr. Dobbs, of course!). Dr. Dobbs checked his cast anyway and all was fine. We decided to leave them on because whatever was troubling him seemed to work through. Plus, , his nurse, told us that if the crying started up again to call her at home and she would come in over the weekend to cut the casts off. Dr. Dobbs said he could be having some muscle spasms in his knees (they are being corrected at the same time as the feet; they were extended during my pregnancy and remained so after birth) that could have been causing the pain. Spasms with knee correction is common and usually subside, which they did. , I do live in St. Louis, U-City to be exact. The commute to Children's, or even Shriner's, is a piece of cake for us. Thank goodness. wrote: Jennie, Please let us know what Dr. Dobbs has to say about the cast. Please be assured that Evan is in excellent hands, Dr. Dobbs is simply one of the very best clubfoot doctors in the country. I hope everything is okay! My son is a patient of Dr. Dobbs as well. Do you live in St. Louis or are you coming in from out of town to see him? Mom to Jenna (4/7/01) & Sammy (9/25/04, RCF, Dobbs brace, 14hrs/day) > Who's your dr.? He shouldn't be uncomfortable at all. Maybe frustrated, but not uncomfortable. Is the cast too tight? Are his toes pink (squeeze them, they should be white where you squeeze them for about a second and then turn immediately pink again)? Are they warm? Can you get a fingertip at least in betweent he top of the cast and his leg? Hope he's doing better! > Marcia > > HELP....my little boy has been crying for two straight days > > > Hello. I am a new member to this group. Guest guest
Glad to hear he's doing better! And glad you got some reassuring news from the dr. Wouldn't it be so much easier if these kiddos could talk?! Take care Marcia HELP....my little boy has been crying for two straight days > > > Hello. I am a new member to this group. Guest guest
As a matter of fact, we will. Our standing appointment is Tuesday mornings at 8:00 am. We skip this Tuesday, but then pick up again next Tuesday and each thereafter until the 28th or so. What time is your appointment? How old is Sammy and what stage of treatment is he in? Jennie wrote: Jennie, I'm so glad that Evan is doing better in his cast. Isn't a the best? So Evan sees Dr. Dobbs at Children's? My son, Sammy sees him there too. We live further out, in Wentzville, but I make the commute daily since I work at Washington University Med School, so it is really no different when I have to bring Sammy in for his appointments. I work in the building right next door to Children's. Sam has an appointment to see Dr. Dobbs on Tuesday, the 21st, will you guys be in that day? > > Who's your dr.? Guest guest
We will be the couple with matching latte's. That's our " thing " on the days Evan gets casted - one of us takes my daughter to daycare and picks up coffee, while the other packs up Evan and waits for the nanny to arrive to watch Liam (Evan's twin). My husband will look all professional (b/c he goes straight to work from the hospital) and I'll be lucky to have combed my hair!! Looking forward to meeting you. Jennie wrote: Jennie - our appt. is at 8:00 also. I will look for you guys. Sammy is 17 months and wearing his brace 14 hrs/day. allison > > > Who's your dr.? He shouldn't be uncomfortable at all.
