Guest guest
Dear Kaci: I just found out about 6-8 months ago that I had 2 major heart attracts, (silent ones) before I had my DS surgery and no one ever knew it. I went through 5-6 hours of surgery for the DS and another 4 hours for the hernia repair and tummy tuck and breast reduction. It wasn't until I wasn't feeling right and had it checked and found out that I have Cardio Myopathy which is damage to the left heart muscle and will now be getting a new kind of pace maker in Seattle to regulate the left side so it will push the blood out instead of only partially out. Dr. Anthone found out about my heart problem when I was done in LA in July and he was stunned that they had not found anything before hand. Anyway I got through it just fine with a much bigger heart problem so try not to worry it will be fine. Huggles, Tiger
Guest guest
Honey, Don't be too worried about it. Most murmurs are benign. They probably will do a cardiac workup just too make sure you clear for surgery. Also, wt loss will be a good thing for your heart--less strain on it. You go ahead with surgery--your body and your heart will thankyou!! Pammi

Guest guest
I have a heart murmur also. I met with my doc today and he reviewed my forms and didn't say anything about it. Hopefully, that means it's ok! dee --- KC Begley wrote: > Dear group, > For the first time in my life, I have found out > that I have a heart > murmur. Guest guest
hi, i am pre-op. i have lots of heart problems. i have had them for about 20 years now. i have an arrythmia..for some unknown reason. i have spasms of the right coronary artery...for some unknow reason..and i have angina..for some unknown reason. it is all because of these unknown reasons that i am nervous. but my surgen seems to think it is ok. and my cardiologist thinks this surgery will save my life. getting rid of the excess weight will ease the work and strain of my heart. so, to you i say...you will do just fine. move ahead with the surgery, smile at your children while you are waiting to have it..knowing you have many more happy years ahead with them:) cathy
Guest guest
Cathy, I too was nervous, but knew that my only chance to live was to have the surgery, All of my physicians said this was my only option. Now they were just as nervous as I was but with the prayers and the grace of God We made it. So if all your doctors are saying it is ok DO IT, you will be in their hands and believe me they won't do it if they feel that it is not in your best interest. post op 9/20 life by God Body by
Guest guest
Hi Kacy! YEARS ago I had to have surgery for an ovarian cyst. It was discovered then that I had a slight murmur. The surgery went fine. I even enlisted in the army after that. There were no complications and now, 30 years later, no one can hear the murmur, so I don't mention it. I am told a good many women have murmurs. ===== Debi-NH Consult NYC 11/29/01 Dr Herron/Mt Sinai BMI 63 __________________________________________________
Guest guest
If the cardiologist says " don't worry " , then any worrying you do ought to be considered just personal self amusement. Some of us love to worry and just hop right on the worry bus at any chance. However, I'm wondering if you misunderstood the explanation. Murmurs are *not* caused by a " hole in the heart " . And 25% of the population do not have heart holes. 25% may have murmurs, though. Yes, a number of people have murmurs that cause no problem. I have often wondered if the old notion that telling the patient *nothing* didn't have it's advantages. In the old days you wouldn't even know. But if you ever feel the need to do any extra worrying, I have a bunch of worries I can lend you. Relax, you've been examined and found *not* to have a problem! Lucky you. Guest guest
I have had a heart murmur all my life it has not stopped anything I have wanted to do. Along with that, I do have a hole in my heart a totally separate birth defect and it still shows up on heart scans, again I have had two kids, run cross country, played field hockey, bowled on three teams, and renovated my home etc., etc, etc,. I do not think you should worry if the Doctor has told you there is nothing to worry about. Love and Hugs Penny Kittson Consult in Saskatoon Sask. Guest guest
Hi Kaci - Found out during my treadmill stress test I do have a heart murmur. The cardiologist kinda threw the info out there. He was not concerned about it so I decided I shouldn't be. My surgery (and subsequent hernia repair) went smoothly. It's not a big deal. Good luck, P > Dear group, > For the first time in my life, I have found out that I have a heart > murmur. Guest guest
There isn't much I can add to the other responses. I have a murmur, and it was not a problem for the DS, the lap colie, the pannie or any of the other surgeries I have been through.
