Is there anyway we can change it so it's not a bulletin board format anymore but

a normal, interactive chat format ? It seems like since we've changed formats,

there has been a significant decrease of usage. Free is great, but if less

people use chat because they don't like the format, it kind of loses it's

purpose, you know ? If I need to chip in so we can get an ad-free version of a

standard chat program because we can't re-code ours for some reason, let me

know!

We have a new chat room, it was not free but paid for by yours truly,

and is totally ad free. You can find it here:

I know some folks have had a tough time with it, but everything new

takes a little getting use to. As for the message board, that is

something different. I am hoping that we will be able to have all

the chats at our new room from now on. Oh, if any special groups like

the individual doctors would like to hold their chats in there, as

well as DS Friends etc. All are welcome to use it. Please just let me

know and we will set up a special schedule. As is with any other chat

on the web, The chat will not be exclusive, but until folks get use

to hanging out there, I see no problem with different groups holding

thier chats at specific times.

It would be great to build the chat room up to the point that anyone

can drop in at any hour of the day or night or day of the week and

find conversation and fun!

I've got to say that I really *hate* that new chat... for a lot of

reasons... the biggest one is that it is extremely hard to use... you

have to be constantly posting or you don't see the current posts.

And you have to scroll every time you want to read the current

posts. If you get behind, it erases the previous posts-- it is so

frustrating that I doubt anyone will be happy using it...

Well gee whiz Joy,

That was constructive! LMFAO! How's this, I will be willing to

escort anyone to the new chat and work with them in there till they

are comfortable. The chat operates as a manual update and as long as

you hit the send button, no prior posts disappear. However, if you

prefer auto updates, all you have to do is go to the bottom of the

chat room and go to frames and the room will " voila " automatically

update for you continuously! How's that for meeting everyone's needs.

Now, to smoothe my own ruffled feathers, I spent my own money in

purchasing this chat for us because every single chat forum we have,

such as Talk City, DS Chat, the free chat provided with the DS

site...everyone hates one or more of these! Amazing that everyone

has their own system requirements and preferences. Due to the large

amount of down time or the restrictions as the amount of folks that

can enter at any given time, some folks are left out.

I am happy if anyone can come up with something better and is willing

to pay for it...I will slowly slink off into the sunset...laughing,

but sometimes, its just a matter of getting use to it. Oh, just as a

reference, the most popular chat on that site has had 440173 hits

this month. That means that folks logged in that many times since

November 1st. Many are my friends, and they hate the chat also!

Those who use Netscape Navigator as their browswer have a horrible

time in there and I am working with the webmaster on that issue.

So, again, the offer stands. If I can meet you at a particular time

and help you through the chat process I am more than willing to do

whatever it takes to make your chat experience enjoyable, and also,

if anyone wants to come up with something better...and how we

determine that with 1000's of users...I am willing to help support

that in anyway that I can.
