Guest guest
Not sure about the dandruff shampoo but Tea tree oil about 4 or 5 drops per bottle of shampoo will keep them away..... Guest guest
Wasn't it the tar? Something like the darker the tar or something like that the better? Or am I way off here? I'm laughing at myself because it sounds funny tar but who knows. Ok I know tar sounds really stupid but that's what popped in my head but I do remember the darker the better and I'm not thinking of dark beers for breastfeeding. Jennfer B Deb wrote: Ok everyone get ready to start scratching again!! LOL NO, no lice here. But when we were talking about this not too long ago, someone said that some ingredient found in dandruff shampoo makes a difference (crap! my scalp is itchy now!!). I can't find that email now but I wanted to check our dandruff shampoos to see if we have that ingredient in our shampoos! But I forget what the ingredient was. Anyone know? Colette and I use dandruff shampoo and I might as well buy the one that has that stuff in it (and Adam can use it too). Better to use whatever protection we can!! LOL So in other words: Once lice is detected in one or more of your children, find dark beer and DRINK IT!!! (and that's for the mom!) Ha ha Deb Re: Lice > Wasn't it the tar? Guest guest
everyone, from 20+ years as a hairdresser and 17 as a mom nothing will do it but the stuff they put in the lice shampoo. but tea tree oil will help repel them and all other bugs. plus help itchy dry dandruff. 's Tea Tree Shampoo is the best. also works the best on chicken pox. I speak from my own experience at the age of 24 w/ those buggers. Coal tar only glues the flakes to the scalp not helps cure the problem. I will try the beer also if i encounter this problem ever again. Guest guest
Got to agree with the Tea tree theory. Didnt know how available it would be in America, but, i have been using it on Cameron( my older son) who seems to attract lice. I use Tea tree shampoo and conditioner with him and only partially wash the conditioner out. Nits do not like it, he hasnt had a problem since we started using it. I will be picking up a beer, everytime I think of lice in the future, just for medicinal purposes, of course!!! Guest guest
Jody I am in Canada, so there might be a greater chance I might be able to find the Tea tree 'stuff'. Where do you buy it down under? A special store? I'm going to look into it. I took the kids horse back riding on Saturday and any child under 18 HAD TO wear a helmet, but they didn't say that in the brochure (otherwise I would have gotten our own) so the kids were absolutely beside themselves that they were going to get lice. (a group of kids that were riding just before our group had just taken off the helmets). One of the other moms said the lice can't attract to the helmet because the padding is one smooth pad of plastic. I don't know, so now I am on lice watch, checking their hair once a day for the next week UGH! (I shall keep the beer on the side " just in case " !) Guest guest
Hi Deb Try www.thursdayplantation .com.au (without the space), they have a distributor in Canada.Lots of tea tree products. Funny i took Cameron for his first ice hockey lesson on the weekend and didnt think twice about the helmet. Now I will!!! Am I mad letting my son play ice hockey?? I think at 7 he is pretty safe, hopefully he will grow out of it before it gets to rough. I always thought living in Australia, I would have to worry about sharks and surfing!!!??? I just hope Liam (RSS) doesnt want to try it. Take care Jody > > > > Ok everyone get ready to start scratching again!! LOL > > > > > > > > NO, no lice here. Guest guest
When I worked at a day camp for kids with special needs, we had a bike riding activity. Of course, the kids had to wear bike helmets, which they shared. We had to put coffee filters in them each time before another child put them on. In the 6 years I worked there, no one had lice.
