Hi Re: Anyone know Dr. Scher from

NYC?-Caroline

Hi ,

Yes, we did a major move this year; hope it's the last for awhile, I

don't have the packing/unpacking gene! Zeke is doing great, 3 years

old, his feet received a perfect score at his last checkup with Dr.

Scher and he uses them like there is no tomorrow. Last summer, he

hiked up two beginner mountains with me in the Adirondacks, walked

the whole trail, and loved it. I have a feeling this year I will

have trouble keeping up with him! He's perfectly content to wear the

brace each night, in fact he will remind us if it looks like we're

forgetting(hope that keeps going...)and our biggest concern footwise

is that he will probably outgrow the largest size of Markells during

this year.

Part of my reason for sharing all this is to let everyone who is at

the beginning of the process know that all the effort you are

investing now is absolutely worth it. Zeke didn't begin correction

until 6 months old and we had our times of dealing with blisters,

stinky feet, stinky casts, adjusting to the brace, etc. But that

does pass, and there is a great sweet satisfaction in seeing your 3

year old use his feet with careless abandon, jumping on his bed as

long as you let him, kicking trees because he can't climb them yet,

dancing some wierd toddler dance...

I doubt I can ever say enough how grateful I am to this list for

steering us to Dr. Ponseti. You've made a tremendous difference in

our little boy's life, now and in the future. Thank you!

Caroline
