Guest guest
I had a nice talk with the nurse at Max's GI's office today. I explained what is going on with Max and asked her what we should do. He goes to school each day, but the nurse calls me by 10am to tell me that he is hiccuping, vomiting and miserable. Of course, he has to go home. Ruth was very kind and offered to speak to the doctor for me. She called me right back and told me that the doctor said to keep Max home. The stress of school, the kids teasing him or getting annoyed with the sound of his hiccups plus the hiccups themselves are too much to take. So, he is home for the week. Fortunately, due to his past health history, it is written into his IEP that he does not have to be held accountable for his absences and there is no limit to them. Now I have to arrange for a bedside tutor for him. That is also in his IEP - no need to wait the usual 2 weeks. He is automatically entitled to a teacher to come to the house to work with him a few times a week. Tomorrow I am taking Max to the Mind/Body Institute so he can learn some breathing exercises that should help. It's worth the $75. It is run by a doctor who is a colleague of our GI. It sure is worth a try. I am really at wit's end and stressing myself over this. It may not sound like it, but I'm a wreck. I'm trying to keep it together. Thank goodness for teaching. It's my link to sanity. Jodi Z
