I think it's inevitable a cast will end up dirty once in a while. I'd scrub it

with a damp cloth. The good news is the casts only stay on a week so it's not

a major thing.

Re: How to protect cast from a diaper leak?

Hi Holly,

We would tape extra gauze around the top of the cast that way we could

remove any gauze that got soiled and replace it with fresh gauze. We were

pretty

neurotic about trying to keep our daughter's cast clean but we still had

weeks where her cast got a little " dirty " (We had a two hour drive home from

her doctor and she usually like to have a " blow out " on the drive home and a

fresh cast!!!!!) We bought a hard bristled tooth brush and used a little bit

of hydrogen perioxide and it took it right off of the plaster and made the

cast look good as new!
