Guest guest
Jodi - sorry I was typing as you were and I just read this. Okay - working out is a good idea. Is there anything else that will knock him out to sleep? What about Tylenol PM? It's a stretch but it works for me just 1/2 a pill. What about Max taking a bath to calm himself down? Would that help? What helps him relax - anything? Jodi - call me if you need to - please ? - H > Max's hiccups are worse than ever now. Guest guest
Jodi, I'm am so sorry you and Max are going through this. How is he handling it? I've never heard of hiccups lasting so long. Please keep us updated on his condition. Take Care, Tammy Jodi Zwain wrote: Max's hiccups are worse than ever now. The Thorazine is doing nothing and they are so intense that he can barely talk. I called the GI. He said he could not see Max today, but to bring him in tomorrow. Great. What good does that do? I called the internist who wanted him to take Prevacid and Reglan, but Max is allergic to Reglan. Haven't heard back from him. I called the psychiatrist, after my good old husband suggested it could be a tic (and Max does have Tourette Syndrome). She called me back and told me to give him another Thorazine and a Klonopin, hoping it would knock him out so he would sleep and it would break the cycle. Max fell asleep for about an hour and was awakened by the damn hiccups again. He's going full force at the moment. I just told him to take another Thorazine, since the first one has now worn off, and I hope this works until I hear back from , the psychiatrist. wants to stop this cycle and then change Max's other meds. She's talking about titrating him off Wellbutrin and adding Zoloft and/or Risperdal. That will take awhile to work, though. I'm supposed to start my scholarship internship tomorrow afternoon. At this rate, I will not be able to go. I cannot leave this house at 7am and not get home until 7:30pm with Max in this condition. This was my worst fear. Just when things were calm, and I could relax a bit, things are spinning out of control. My husband is in San Francisco, so he can't help out, either. I am so stressed I don't know what to do with myself. I guess I'll go exercise and sweat it out. I've lost 19.5 pounds already. Might as well go for a few more! Guest guest
Hi Jodi This is a long shot, and I dont know what time of day it is over there BUT, I have heard acupuncture can be very good for hiccups. Dont know if anyone else has suggested it or if you even like the idea of accupuncture, but its all I can think of. Any emergency accupuncturists in your area(is there such a thing ???) Tell Max we are thinking of him, and and you!! Good luck ! Jody > Max's hiccups are worse than ever now. Guest guest
PS I guess the other thing is to get some bloods done and make sure its not an imbalance of something that is causing the hiccups??? > > Max's hiccups are worse than ever now. Guest guest
, He IS hiccuping as he sleeps. He starts to sleep and things are calm, then the hiccups start up again. I did do what you suggested even before I just read your other email....I worked out, showered and then brought Max down to the family room with me. I made him take another half a Klonopin and told him to snuggle up with me. I held him, rubbed his arm with one hand and soothed his head with the other. He was asleep almost immediately. He woke a few times with hiccups again, but I just shushed him and made him go back to sleep. Now it is after 7:30 so I have dinner heating up and I will let him eat a bit. The psychiatrist called and told me to give him the double dose of Thorazine again tonight as well as a full Klonopin. She wants me to kind of keep him doped up until he sees the GI tomorrow afternoon. Needless to say, I am not going to be able to go to the first day of my class. That's life. My kids are more important than anything in the world. Jodi Z
Guest guest
Jody, It's 7:41pm. I'll never find an accupuncturist at this hour. And with our insurance, I have to get a referral first anyway. Max is drugged right now and calmer. But the hiccups continue, just not with the extreme intensity as before. I'm trying to stay calm, hoping that my workout helped a little bit. At least we had a good ride for a couple of months. More than that, actually. Things are never dull for very long around here. Guest guest
Jodi - wish I was there for you. I'd give you a hug and go to your class to take notes. - H > , > > He IS hiccuping as he sleeps. He starts to sleep and things are > calm, then the hiccups start up again.
