Hey everyone,

I was wondering if you all think I should satrt baby

foods with my baby who is 3 1/2 months. We don't have

a positive RSS diagnosis... but I'm pretty sure she's

got it. I'm eager to try her on baby food.. Just

wanted to know what everyone thought... We go to the

Shriners tomorrow and I'll let everyone know what

happens.

I know I " m new to the group.. but everyone had been so

kind to a newbie, I'm really happy y'all are here.

Blessings,

say no baby food to any baby until 6 months but i always gave it to

all my kids early. beach nut i believe is the one that has the most

calories. let us no how you make out at shriners.

Hey Jodie,

We are going to the Shriners in Greenville SC. We have

been once before and we just love that place. Our 5

year old loves all the games and the kid friendly

enviroment they have there. They really put kids

first.

We just moved from Waynesboro, PA 4 months ago. Do you

live in PA? I had to go to burg alot for my last

pregnancy. They monitored me weekly because was

is small. Her head was huge but body small.. now all

the peices are coming together! Anyway... You'll enjoy

the Shriners. I had to wait a month for my

appointment.

Best of Luck,

,

I would hold off on the baby food until you speak to the

pediatrician. Most don't let babies start food at that young age.

The only one I've heard about is rice cereal. That is frequently used

as an additive to milk for those who have reflux. The thicker formula

helps the food stay down instead of coming back up in your face.

You also have to be careful with food allergies. Some kids develop

food allergies if they are introduced to them too early.

- first, again welcome to the group. I honestly would

discuss starting solids with your physician first - whether or not

your child has any type of diagnosis - it is always best to check

with your physician. I know that our physician does not suggest

trying baby food with babies until they are atleast 4 months old -

as their digestive system is not yet prepared for it. However, I

did start my now 3 1/2 year old on rice cereal at 3 1/2 months

because he was STARVING all the time and the formula was not enough

for him (he's currently in the 97th and 100th percentiles). My 2

1/2 year old, Ian, who has RSS was not able to even start solids

until 8 months because he had food aversions and would gag between

the ages of 6-8 months. I held him off on eating solids until

around 5 months because he was so tiny, the physicians and I felt he

needed the higher calories from formula - although - at that time -

he did not have a diagnosis of RSS - had I known then what I know

now - I would not have changed my decision to hold off on solid

foods - but, I would have considered other measures to help him gain

weight (such as not allowing him to sleep through the night

beginning at 6 months of age). Let us know what you decide.
