Guest guest
Marla, I'm not doing ANY work! We don't usually have a big dinner for Easter. Theresa made some yummy potato soup tonight, so I'll have it for lunch too. Re: cardiac issue Rose, I'm sorry to hear your in more pain, and your heart, but try as hard as I can, I cannot dig that part of brain to remember what Left Bundle Block means either, I had to have my heart check out before starting Remicade as you can't go on Remicade if you have cardiac Sarc, that's why Tracie had to go off it, I hope she's still doing good. Let us know what you find out next week, and just try to have a good Easter, I hope you are not doing all the work?? and can get your pain under control. Guest guest
Don't panic yet Rose. I have cardiac sarc, that is why I have the pacer- Before we figured things out, I had off the chain bradycardia, then supertach, atrial fib, ventricular tach, PVC's, syncope (brady'd out doing 77 mph on the interstate-went out like turning off a lightswitch-no warning) ablation surgery - and before the pacer I seem to recall a bundle branch issue. I don't have clogged arteries (had a heart cath 3 weeks ago-due to what looked like an ischemic area on the nuclear stress) For the most part the meds for sarc, and the pacer control the cardiac sarc problems, I don't remember the bundle branch business showing up anymore. I do have CHF and cardiomyopathy, but coreg, an Insync III CHF pacer, and the sarc meds pretty much takes care of business. I'll be praying hard. Take care... To: neurosarcoidosis Sent: Thu, April 21, 2011 10:57:28 PMSubject: cardiac issue I went to see my cardiologist today hoping to get his blessing for the back surgery if I decided to go ahead with it. I was first referred to him by my sarc doc a couple of years ago because of chronic tachycardia & occasional episodes of irregular heart beat. I had been treated with Toprol for the tachycardia for about 6 years, but no one had found a cause for it, but I'd never seen a cardiologist. The irreg. heart beats has occurred 3-4 times a year for a couple of years; no dizziness or other symptoms. My sarc doc wanted my evaluated for cardiac sarc. I had a thorough workup, with a follow-up visit last year. I was actually not scheduled to see him again until 6/30, but got it moved up because of the possible surgery. I wasn't expecting any problems because it's been several months since my heart did anything funky. But lo and behold, my EKG was abnormal, showing left bundle branch block. Of course I've forgotten most of what I ever knew about cardiology, but I knew that didn't sound good, so I did some research. There are a number of conditions that can cause it, some scarier-sounding than others. He had me get an echocardiogram today & will call me with the results, probably next week. I'm hoping it's just some weird fluke, but do any of you know much about this? Luckily I'm not someone who will worry about it all weekend. I'm not even going to mention it to my kids, because at least 2 of them will freak out & stare at me all weekend. To make it even worse, I've had worsening leg pain for the past 2 days, having to take more Percocet & still not getting good relief. Dang it. Guest guest
Thanks for the info & the reassurance, Connie. I'm not on any sarc meds, as the docs have felt I was in remission for the past 3-4 years. So if it looks like cardiac sarc, I'll have to start back on something. Over the years I've had cardiac sarc lurking in the back of my mind. I had a pretty good episode of atrial fib in 1994; was in the hospital a couple of days trying to get in a normal rhythm, then it took several months of tinkering with med combos to keep me in normal rhythm. I was noted to have enlarged hilar nodes & had the lovely lymph node biopsy via mediastinoscopy to confirm sarc. I had an echo & EKG at the time & they didn't think it was cardiac sarc, but had no other ideas for cause. Then no problems (heart at least) for about 8 years; then started tachycardia, controlled pretty well on Toprol, unless I miss a few doses, which happens occassionally. :-( They didn't find a cause for that either. Then about 2, maybe 3 years ago, I started getting funky little episodes with my heart every few months--very irreg. When I counted it, it would vary from the 40's to 90's. The whole episode would last from an hour to 3-4 hours, but I wouldn't get dizzy or anything. It was weird enough to wake me up a couple of times. Had more tests, but no cause found, so my sarc doc sent me to a cardiologist who is supposed to be good at cardiac sarc. I first saw him 2 years ago & he did all the usual tests. No sign of cardiac sarc, but he said that I had more than average risk,. so he wanted to keep a close eye on me, which was reassuring. Then last year the funky episodes got worse, so he did a 48 hr. Holter monitor, which showed some short runs of abnormal rhythms, but nothing too impressive. He increased the Toprol dose a bit & I haven't had an episode for probably 8-9 months. But the thought is always there, because the docs have not been able to find a cause for these weird things & I know that cardiac sarc can be hard to diagnose. I kind of hope it is, because then I'd have a cause instead of wondering. Does that make sense?!? cardiac issue
