Guest guest
I don't know. I didn't think it was necessary to treat intoeing. I thought it fixed itself over time. My daughter had it and we didn't do anything about it and she's fine now. She's 3 1/2 years. I've never heard of twister cables. Twister cables.. anyone have experience with them? We've been seeing the same doc at Childrens for 2 yrs now.. he only treats intoeing one way as far as I've seen. He's been through, straightsets, reverslast, and for the past 3 months, boot and bar. Yesterday I met a Mom with a daughter that they are using the twister cable method, which at first glance, seems to be more effective. I've since made a call to get a referral to talk to this other doctor for a second opinion.. but at this point, not sure what to think. Anyone? From my understanding, doesn't intoeing usually correct on its own? Is it a very severe case of intoeing you're dealing with? I've heard, and seen pictures, of the twister cables on the spina bifida board, but they would be used because a sb kid would probably not be able to correct on his own. Guest guest
I am not familiar with Twister cables. But here are my thoughts about your son's feet if you don't mind my throwing in my two cents.... I would take him to a certified Ponseti doctor, who has experience with older children. These docs are very well versed in the kinematics of the foot and how moving which bones will affect which other bones. Since his intoeing is quite severe, from what you are saying here, and what you have already tried, I would suspect that they would cast him and then put him in the FAB with a wider spacing for the feet than what he has now, but not as much abduction as you see for the CF kids, maybe 20 degrees or so. I'm no doctor but that would be my guess from what I know about the various foot issues our kiddos deal with. I don't know. I didn't think it was necessary to treat intoeing. I believe he's out of town right now but he'd absolutely be fantastic for you to see. He is considered one of the very best there is. He may be back, although I beleive he is in Figi (??) training people in the Ponseti Method. He can surely help you figure this out. I'm a bit south of you, in Oregon. I'd travel up there to see him if I felt it was necessary. ok, here's his info (it's the last one in this list). I am unsure about the others, having not heard much if anything about them but maybe some others can pipe up and share any experiences. I think I'd get him to Pirani though if I had to make this decision.
