Guest guest
Hi, Dianne. Dr. Gagner's office told me that the other reasons for the EGD are to check for hernias (although some of these are only partially detectable with an EGD) and any other abnormalities in the stomach and duodenum. I think it's prudent to look at the organ you're gonna cut BEFORE you cut it. I went so far as to have the other end scoped as well because I wanted to know that my entire digestive system was in good shape. Some may think that's overkill, but as long as you're " out " for the EGD, they may as well do both ends! REMEMBER TO HAVE YOUR DOCTOR DOCUMENT THE MEDICAL INDICATIONS FOR BOTH OF THESE PROCEDURES (AS THOUGH TOTALLY SEPARATE FROM THE D/S) SO THAT YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY WON'T REFUSE PAYMENT FOR THEM!!!
