Guest guest
Hi, . I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble. I wouldn't worry too much about the sweating. Maybe the age difference is what is making her sweat more with this second band. Her body should adjust soon. Just keep her as comfy as you can and wipe her band out with a dry cloth periodically. As for your concern that the band is too loose, I don't think that the band rotating when pulled on is unusual, but I agree that I wouldn't expect it to come off just by pulling up from the lip on the back. My clinician told me that lip is what holds the band on, and specifically pulled on it to show me it can't be slipped off when the velcro is fastened. I'd go back to Cranial Tech and tell them about your fit concerns. Maybe the band needs adjusting or they told you to velcro it too loosely. I'm sure if you let them know there's an issue, they will see you right away. Good luck! > > My daughter just got her second DOCBand (11.5 months old) > > 1)she is sweating like crazy. I have the heat set for 65 degrees and she's walking/crawling around in a short sleeve onesie and nothing else. (meanwhile I'm bundled up in sweat shirts and thick socks) Night time is thin cotton pj's (long sleeve and leg but open foot because I have the fan on). She has been in the helmet since the 18th (8 days). We did not experience nearly this amount of sweating in the last helmet which was worn in August - November and it was much hotter then. How much longer should this last? Our check up is not until next Thursday (Feb 3) > > 2)She's already figured out how to get the helmet off by grabbing the back lip and pulling it up over her head like taking off a shirt. Any advice on keeping the helmet on? Our clinician said my daughter was not old enough to figure this out and yet she's barely been in the helmet a week when this started. > > 3)The helmet is loose enough that a child at daycare is able to grab hold and twist the helmet enough so the my daughter's ear is folded over itself and trapped under the helmet. Daycare is dealing with the child (actually my daughter's teacher banned the child to his bed until the office agrees to move him out of our room - there have been several issues with this child), but is the helmet too loose? I know some looseness is supposed to be there but her first helmet was not that loose. >
Guest guest
I did talk to our clinician and she gave me permission to try tightening the velcro. She said that if any persistent red shows up under those edges near the velcro then I would have to loosen it again. The velcro now sits about 1 cm past the edge of the lower velcro strap and not even the slightest bit of pink has shown up. I'm going to call back and talk to her again about how far it is tightened now and what that does to the pressure/holding points. As for taking the helmet off by herself...the clinician did say it was possible but only a few enterprising toddlers figured this out. SHe said to put it back on without any fuss or commotion then ignore my daughter for a short period. She said most children will take the band off for the attention it garners. It seems to have worked so far along with keeping a close eye on her and when I see her grabbing the back of the helmet I quickly get her playing with some other toy. It's only happened twice since talking to the clinician yesterday morning as opposed to 4-5 times a day. The sweating is finally getting better, but she is still slightly damp when I check her. At least she is not dripping sweat anymore... > > > > My daughter just got her second DOCBand (11.5 months old) > > > > 1)she is sweating like crazy. Guest guest
I'm glad to hear you found a solution. Maybe the helmet was made a little too loose. I guess at least you don't have to worry about her outgrowing it too quickly. Good luck! > > > > > > My daughter just got her second DOCBand (11.5 months old) > > > > > > 1)she is sweating like crazy.
