I hope you feel better soon... Perhaps it is a hernia (this is what I thought but just from COUGHING?)... Perhaps it isn't one that requires immediate emergency surgery or anything like that... Hopefully it is only a pulled muscle (this can happen from excessive coughing,t oo). Thanks for giving us an update -- I was concerned. Let us know what's up tomorrow! all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal january 25, 2001 Dr. Gagner/Mt. Guest guest
Kathy - Please be careful. I'm not trying to alarm you (or anyone else) but I had pretty constant pain with my hernia. It was so bad I couldn't bend much without severe problems. I never ran a fever and didn't feel sick. My DS surgeon kept saying I shouldn't have that much pain. The local general surgeon I consulted for the hernia repair had to be talked into the surgery. When he got in there he found my small bowel was about to rupture. I was never constipated or had any of the symptoms associated with an obstruction, only the pain. Maybe you could get an Xray or CT scan. (Then again, it didn't show up on either of those for me. It usually does for most patients.)
