Guest guest
Tina, I can't think of why the casts would cause him to have a fever, although I think that kids temperatures tend to run the warmest in the late afternoon (fever or not) and he could be a little overheated from the casts, especially if you are dressing him the same as before he got the cast on, his body temp is probably used to a certain amount of clothing and then to add the casts to that could make him warmer. Also, I would guess that it is pretty warm there in NM today? In any case, I don't think the casts should actually cause a fever (his circulation is still looking good?), so I would keep an eye on it as you would any other time and take him to your dr. as you would normally. Hope this helps, > > Do babies get fever when they first get casts? Or maybe he is just > getting sick?!? Che had a fever of 100.0 so I gave him a little > tylonol and it went down. Guest guest
It's not the casts, He just got a cold but I noticed that childrens mortin works a lot better than the tylonol. His fever went down a lot and he is in a better mood today even though he didnt sleep in all night. but anywho he is getting used to the casts pretty quick. Iam just worried that they will irritate the skin inside the casts because his skin is sensitive. Is there anyone that has noticed any skin irratations when the casts are changed??? > > > > Do babies get fever when they first get casts? Guest guest
Hi . Glad to hear your little guy is getting adjusted to the casts. It's such a relief seeing them cope with them. As far as skin irritation, most babies don't have any issues with their skin from the casts. Sometimes you'll notice after the cast comes off that the skin is a little redder - more tender looking. But that is normal with any casting. Just make sure that his toes stay nice and pink to ensure good circulation. And since the casts come off and are re-done every 5-7 days, they'll accommodate for the child's growth. wrote: It's not the casts, He just got a cold but I noticed that childrens mortin works a lot better than the tylonol.
