Magazine about the new

personal transportation device called the Segway? According to their

website, the initial device will be on sale in about a year, and will

have a WT limit of 250 lbs. I'm 271 right now (and on a 3 week

plateau). If I hadn't already had the surgery, this would be an

incentive for me--I'm hopelessly enamored of all gadgets, the weirder

the better! Yes, walking is good exercise, but sometimes, especially

doing home health care in NYC, walking just takes too darn long!

Although our public transportation is some of the best in the world,

it can be very slow and unreliable. I'm going to try the " Segway

incentive " on my BF, who is 450 lbs. and won't have ANY type of

bariatric surgery because " the side effects are too drastic. " Maybe

this will change his mind.

Down 33 lbs and if that scale doesn't start moving soon, it's going

out the window!

Me too, Lisbeth. I love gadgets! I'm trying to convince hubby that I

need an iPod in the hospital after surgery so I won't have to fiddle

with CDs in my morphine-induced state! LOL!! That scooter looks like

it would also come in handy: more expensive than a bike, cheaper

than a car...it might make living in the city a little more

manageable, depending on how it handles the hills. I just chuckle at

the name...I guess " segue " was a little to esoteric?

I think the " Segway " spelling was used as opposed to the

orthographically correct " segue " because of trademark/copyright law. I

believe it's easier to get trademark/copyright protection on a unique

spelling or design than it is on something spelled correctly. Hence

the misspellings that have invaded our society. Any real lawyers out

there who can confirm or deny this? Intellectual property wasn't my

thing in law school. All I remember is " the test of trademark

infringement is the likelihood of confusion in the mind of the

consumer. " Somehow I don't think that applies here!

I want a Segway to ride around on while I listen to my iPod, talk on

my cell phone and enter data into my PalmPilot! Santa, what's your

email?

Down 33 lbs since 10/3, on a plateau and the scale is going out the

window very soon.
