Guest guest
Hi , 8mm is definitely borderline. I have heard of parents banding at that number and being quite happy they did. However I also know our specialist (cranial facial plastic surgeon) recommends banding at 10mm or more. It really depends how 8mm looks on your child, and how happy/unhappy you are with his head. It is very hard to know if there will be correction without a band. My daughter graduated from her starband at 10 mo. She had excellent correction while in the band. However we had her remeasured at 14 mo. She had still grown, but since growth was all over the head her numbers didn't improve. Some people do see improvement without a band (either because they decide not to band or after the band comes off). -christine sydney, 5 yrs, starband grad > > I need advice. Today we went and saw an ortho. who supplies STARbands. My son measured with a 8mm deviation on the diagonal which is mild to moderate plagio. My son has a symmetrical face but the left ear is pushed slightly forward (the side where the flat spot). My husband I were thinking that if it's moderate we are going to band, but now I am on the fence. I want his head corrected but I just don't know if we will get much results due he being 9 mo. We still don't know if our insurance will cover the band. > if we do band which probably won't be a month or two depending on a script. will we see a difference in his shape? > If we don't helmet, would we still see correction with the flat side? > >
