Check-Up With Dr. In Grand Rapids, MI

Hi Everyone -

Haven't posted in quite some time. I do read the threads pretty

regularly though. We went to see Dr. in GR this morning.

Everything was great. He had nothing but wonderful things to say

about Zach's foot. He'll send pictures and his notes to Dr. Ponseti

just to verify his opinion - I think Dr. Ponseti will be just as happy.

Reid - I think your question about the overcorrection might have been

because of my email to you. Dr. said it was absolutely fine. He

said you'd rather it still be overcorrected because of relapse. The

foot is naturally drawn inward because of the clubfoot.

Overcorrection allows for that natural tendency to happen (somewhat)

bringing it in to the normal degree of a non-clubfoot (does that make

sense? - Dr. explained it better)

All in all - it was a great trip! Dr. suggested we come back in

6 months when we'll talk about discontinuing the DBB. Instead, we'll

head to Iowa City next summer when Dr. Ponseti will more than likely

tell us to discontinue the DBB. We'd rather wait until five rather

than 4.5 yrs.
