Guest guest
I thought I read somewhere that using cleaners other than rubbing alcohol can damage the helmet by breaking down the material. I can't find where I read that though. Maybe someone else knows... > > My new pediatrician (a dermatologist specialist) says to clean helmet w bleach (in light of staph infection). > > Anyone clean it with bleach? Guest guest
I would highly recommend that you do NOT do that. I have a DOC band and and they say only use Alcohol. My son's helmet was really stinky for the first week. Then I realised that the alcohol I was using was 71%. I started using a 91% alc. and it works great. By the end of the day, it still stinks, but after a good clean scrub and bath, it's back to normal. When it's hot out, I sometimes clean it twice during the day. Hope that helps! > > > > My new pediatrician (a dermatologist specialist) says to clean helmet w bleach (in light of staph infection). > > > > Anyone clean it with bleach? Guest guest
I wpuld not, for the same reasons the others have said. We were told that we could use a gentle baby shampoo, and make sure it was COMPLETELY dry before it was put back on. I would blot the entire helmet, then put it in front of an fan blowing on high speed. That was his " hour off " during the day! > > My new pediatrician (a dermatologist specialist) says to clean helmet w bleach (in light of staph infection). > > Anyone clean it with bleach?
