Guest guest
My son did, but was very uncomfortable. We now have a red adjustable bar, and he has been comfortable since. The distance from heal to heal should be 7 " , which means the bar will have to be longer. I wouldn't ask your ortho, I would just tell them I wanted a longer or adjustable bar. We have never asked for anything, just told them what we wanted. Haven't had any problems yet! 11/19/04 trelsayed wrote: Okay. I just posted a little bit ago. Zachary got his DBB last Thursday and he has a 7 " gold bar. The distance between his shoulders is 6.5 - 7 " and the distance between the heels of his boots on the bar is 3.75 " . This doesn't seem quite right from what I've been reading. I am going to contact his orthosist at the hospital who fitted him for the DBB to find out if this is correct, but I thought I would try here on the board first for any suggestions. Does anyone else have a 3- month-old who only has a 7 " bar? Thanks in advance for your help!!!
Guest guest
I'll pipe in with no Ponseti Political Correctness here to say in my humble opinion adjusting the bar is largely by guess work and less by measuring tapes. Eye ball it. Does it appear to you that his heels are shoulder width apart? Not the heels of his shoes, but his actually heels inside the shoe. 3 inches between the shoes is probably waaay to narrow. I know his actual heel is not where the actual exterior heel portion of his shoe is - there's a big of variance there - but you can eyeball a lot if he's laying out perhaps with no pants on so you can follow the line of his leg down in to the shoes. There are so many different opininos on hw to measure. From the bolt, not from the bolt, between the shoes, from that screw not this screw, etc. It gets confusing and frustrating, especially since you can't be sure you are even measureing the shoulder width correctly on a squishy squirrmy baby! s. Help! Bar length! Okay. I just posted a little bit ago. Zachary got his DBB last Thursday and he has a 7 " gold bar.
