Guest guest
Call the dr. office and see what they say. Sounds like the casts may have been too tight. Does it cover the entire area where the casts were? Was it like this when they were taken off or has it developed since removal? Were they taken off in the dr. office or at home? Is baby now in the fab? Who is the dr.? Marcia bruising after last casts Hello all, I am hoping for some help. My daughter just got her last ponseti casts off today. The casts were on for 3 weeks following the tenotomy surgery on both legs. She seems to be doing ok, but she has what I think is pretty severe bruising on both of her legs. It does not seem to be painful for her, but it is concerning to me. Has anyone else experienced this? Is the bruising normal? I did notice that she was super fussy the past few weeks, much more so than with the other casts, but I thought maybe it was because these casts were on for 3 weeks instead of just 1 week. I am nervous that something may have been done improperly with the casting to cause such bruising, eventhough the doctor told me it was fine. Also the bruising seems to be getting worse throughout the day. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Jillian
Guest guest
AFter one of 's early casts, she had pretty severe bruising under the casts on both legs. I believe, as did her doctor, that she just grew too fast for the casts, even though they were changed at a one week interval. Even after Dr. Ponseti did 's casts and they stayed on for three weeks, there were some red spots and some bruising. It all will go away and I don't believe that it is uncommon for some amount of bruising to occur. Since you have had problems only with the casts being on for three weeks (I assume?), then I would just think that she grew too much for the casts during that time period and not that the doctor made a casting error. Guest guest
Yep, same thing happened to Grace after her 3w cast came off....she had had a growth spurt and had some pretty bad bruising. We have a Ponseti certified doc so I was sure that it was due to a growth spurt. I would assume that that is what happened....they grow so much in the first yr, this is not uncommon. I know that it looks horrid but trust me, they heal so so fast and Grace's bruises were gone in a couple of days. Give your little one a big hug from us and congrats on getting to this stage of treatment Smiles, & Grace 23mos urcf FAB 12-14hrs > > AFter one of 's early casts, she had pretty severe bruising under the > casts on both legs.
